Position Summary and Scope of Service:

The Living Unit Clerk (LUC) plays a crucial role in supporting the delivery of excellent client services by facilitating the smooth and timely flow of information and accessing of resources for members of the interdisciplinary care team.

The LUC exemplifies and promotes the mission and the values of St.
Amant and the goals and objectives of River Road Place in his/her interactions with residents, families and colleagues.


This position is a key resource to both the Resident Care Managers and the Resident Care Supervisors:

  • The LUC
  • weekday schedule reports directly to the Resident Care Manager(s) of his/her assigned living unit(s) and collaborates with administrative supports, facilities and corporate resource services
  • The LUC
- evening & weekend schedule reports directly to the Resident Care Supervisor (RCS)


Qualifications

Educational:


  • Must possess a minimum of Grade 1
  • Must have formal training certification related to job duties e.g. Living Unit/Health Unit Clerk, Administrative Assistant or equivalent (Significant previous related experience may be considered in lieu of formal training)

Professional:


  • Is proficient in the Microsoft Office software suite including: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook and familiar with office technology (e.g. fax, printer, scanner, copier, etc.)
  • A minimum of one year of previous experience as a Unit Clerk (or in a substantially similar role in a Health Care or Human Service setting) is preferred
  • Demonstrates excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Previous experience working within an interdisciplinary Program Management model is an asset

Duties and Responsibilities:


Clinical Care Management
The Living Unit Clerk supports the delivery of high-quality, appropriate and safe care services.


Duties include:


  • Schedules client appointments and arranges transportation and attendant support as directed
  • Sends, receives, distributes, and files resident information as directed, and culls Health Records in collaboration with Health Information Services and in accordance with established procedural standards
  • Processes verbal orders and facilitates communication with physicians, pharmacies, and hospitals as directed. Follows up to ensure that verbal orders are signed by the Physician in accordance with standards
  • Monitors and audits elements of direct service delivery and tracks adherence to standards as directed
  • Maintains residentspecific databases as assigned (e.g. Resident activity schedules, progress towards IP goals, chattel inventories, restraint usage, etc.)
  • Collaborates with Health Information Services to ensure that personal health information for residents is managed in accordance with applicable legislation and standards
