- Perform credit reviews of current and prospective retail energy customers using financial analysis, third-party rating agency intelligence, data services, and proprietary models.
- Qualify prospective transactions including purpose, exposure, risks, and potential mitigants.
- Actively manage a designated retail customer portfolio by maintaining credit limits, ratings, and other prerequisite database fields for accurate reporting and monitoring.
- Apply good judgment in recommending transactions and applying appropriate credit limits to customers based on the credit analysis conducted.
- Conduct calls with customers and brokers to obtain information needed for credit review.
- Aid the weekly reporting of top customer exposures, expected losses, and over-limit issues.
- Support the development and enhancement of credit risk metrics, processes, and development of solutions to credit issues while remaining compliant with policy.
- Develop and maintain a strong working relationship with the sales team by addressing credit-related inquiries with a fast turnaround and clear response.
- Open office environment a minimum of 3 days/week.
- Ability to work effectively in a remote environment 1-2 days/week.
- University undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- Energy industry experience, including familiarity with energy commodity sales / trading and risk management concepts
- Foundational understanding of financial statements and credit risk metrics.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Detail-oriented, able to work independently and collaboratively with other team members and departments.
- Basic skills in Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Word.
- Experience with third-party credit agencies including Dun & Bradstreet, Credit Risk Monitor, Experian/Equifax, S&P Capital IQ, Moody's KMV, or others.
- Accounting designation or CFA
- Highly skilled with MS Excel and SQL; proficient with other MS Office products.
- Functional knowledge of reporting software such as Tableau or PowerBI.
- Understanding energy master agreements is a plus.
