Position Details
Context:
The Information Technology (IT) Department ensures that the corporations IT infrastructure, security, software and communications needs are met. The Systems and Operations section manages and maintains all IT infrastructure including security, network, LAN/WAN, communication/collaboration systems, servers, storage, business applications, databases and cloud services. This team also provides hardware and software support, including operation of the NLHC's corporate helpdesk. The Systems Development section designs, develops, implements and maintains new and upgraded software solutions, manages the acquisition/installation and upgrade of software from external vendors, provides software training in corporate systems, performs application support to end users, develops and maintains the corporation's data and reporting.
Duties:
Reporting to the Manager, Systems and Operations, the Computer Support Specialist is a member of the IT Operations team at NL Housing. The incumbent will provide support to all NLHC departments and regions; log all calls immediately in the IT ticketing system quickly and efficiently with detail; develop and maintain detailed solutions in a knowledge base repository; install, configure, and support, computers, equipment, and peripherals; communicate with clients and technical staff the status of tickets in a timely manner; troubleshoot operating problems in both hardware and software, and develop and implement changes to rectify the problems. The Computer Support Specialist will assist the implementation, deployment, and maintenance of local and wide area network components (i.e. switches, routers, network IP cameras and network printers), operating systems, applications packages and connections to the network; research new equipment and applications; communicate with support vendors by placing service calls, co‐ordinating the service required, and ensuring its completion; procure requested hardware, software, and services. As well as provide training to end users on the use of hardware or software; perform asset inventory reviews and makes recommendations based on findings; perform relocation of equipment; perform software updates and upgrades and regular security monitoring; maintain user rights and access; dismantle and dispose of old equipment in accordance with IT standards and procedures and other related duties as required.
