About the role

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a
regular full-time Analyst, Pension and Benefits to join our dynamic
Total Rewards, Talent Programs team in our
People Culture and Performance division.


The
Total Rewards, Talent Programs team is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services by providing programs and policies which support the overall talent management strategy.

This includes an overarching system compromised of compensation, benefits and pension and oversees the development, on-going improvement, and monitoring and evaluation of corporate total rewards programs that are in support of corporate strategy and objectives.


Formula for success

  • Leveraging your strong analytical and problemsolving skills, you will analyze pay results on a biweekly and monthly basis and identify anomalies that may result in incorrect payment for benefit premiums or pension contributions.
  • You will be responsible for analyzing and auditing employees that are on a leave of absence or on a return to work, ensuring that employees have applicable benefits coverage and pension continuation; and that applicable premiums are being processed.
  • Focusing on your high degree of accuracy and attention to detail, you will prepare, analyze and audit biweekly data feeds and reports of employee information and pension contributions and resolve discrepancies independently or with Finance and Third-Party Service Providers.
  • Utilizing your excellent client service and interpersonal skills, as the primary contact, you will research, interpret, advise, and respond to queries to resolve pay issues, benefits premiums and complex benefits claims concerns, and pension administration requests.
  • Using your excellent organizational skills, you will document, analyze, recommend, implement, and audit processes to ensure that pension data and reporting are accurate and that employee events (i.e., enrolment, termination, retirement, leaves of absence, etc.) are administered according to pension requirements.
  • Drawing on your continuous growth mindset, you will identify continuous improvement opportunities to increase efficiency, quality, and value to Human Resource services and internal clients, through changes in processes, policy, or use of technology.

Desired education and skills

  • Completion of postsecondary level education in relevant discipline, from a recognized academic institution, preferably in Business Administration, Human Resources, Payroll, or related field.
  • A minimum of three years of related experience is essential, preferably within a national organization.
  • Sound understanding of employee benefits and insurance principles.
  • A professional designation in Human Resources management (CHRP), Benefits Compensation (i.e., CEBS
  • Certified Employee Benefits Specialists, CCP/CBP), Pension or the professional Certification in Payroll (PCP) would be considered an asset.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment would be considered an asset.
  • Computer literacy with MS Word, Excel, SAP, or similar ERP System.

What you can expect

  • This role will work in a hybrid environment with requirements to be onsite at Canadian Blood Services location 40% of the time/2days of the week.
  • You will work Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week, 7.5 hours per day.
  • If you are located outside of Ottawa, you may be required to travel to Ottawa, head office, for team meetings annually or as required.
