Summary:
Classroom Champions provides powerful Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) programming to K-8 students through the mindset and journey of world-class athlete mentors. Classroom Champions is a rapidly growing nonprofit organization seeking passionate and mission-driven people to join our exceptional team of educators, athletes and nonprofit leaders.
We're seeking a self motivated individual who will continue to implement the momentum and vision for the rapidly growing athlete mentor cohort. As the interim Head of Athletes, you will be at the forefront of our mission, leading the charge to recruit the best positive role models from the athlete world who want to make a difference outside of their sport. You will continue to hold and create large-scale partnerships with NGBs, SFs, teams, sponsors, leagues and stakeholders. With an athlete-first mentality you will be a sounding board across departments, helping match the right mentors with the most impactful and fulfilling projects. In this role, you will continue to create opportunities for the team of volunteer Athlete Mentors to engage in professional and personal growth. You will have the opportunity to continue your legacy in sport, making your mark on the next generation by making sport more than just athletics, but a mindset that will help kids thrive in the classroom and beyond. This fully remote, full-time contracted position, will run from April 15, 2024 to November 15, 2024
Responsibilities:
Manage and grow the Classroom Champions Athlete Mentor Program while overseeing the execution of day-to-day activities of the Athlete Mentor Manager
Lead the Classroom Champions Athlete Mentor program strategy, including but not limited to:
Implementing the Athlete Mentor recruitment plan
Working with existing partnerships and connecting to new contacts via NGBs, NSO's, organizing committees, agencies, and other organizational partnerships to create diverse and powerful team of Athlete Mentors
Implementing projects within the Classroom Champions strategic plan
Work closely with the Director of Education and Strategy on looking across the internal organization to expand opportunities for the Athlete Mentor program on special projects, partnerships, and initiatives that require Athlete Mentor involvement
Continue to cultivate relationships as it relates to Classroom Champions and the Athlete Mentor program
Qualifications
A strong desire to leverage sport and athletes as vehicles for social change
Elite athlete with Olympic, Paralympic, or NCAA/National experience preferable
Experience working with elite athletes highly preferable
Knowledge of K-8 education is a bonus
Familiarity with Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Vimeo, Canva, and Google Suite
Enthusiasm for embracing new technological tools
Highly organized and self motivated
Eagerness to jump in and learn to solve problems as they arise
Collaborative, with the ability to work with a diverse and remote team
Additional Information:
Duration: 7 month contract (April 15-November 15)
Compensation: $7,000 CDN/month
Work Schedule: A flexible schedule is required with the ability to work between 8:30-5:00pm local time Monday and Friday
Remote Work: this is a fully remote role
Legally permitted to work in Canada or USA
