Our Team:


The Logistics Team is an integral support function that coordinates the movement of intermediate, final and consumable products for Vale Canada sites.

The Logistics Team schedule, track and manage logístical requirements by communicating with key internal and external stakeholders.


The Opportunity:

We are currently seeking a
Supervisor, Logistics to join our
Materials Management and Logistics Group in
Sudbury, Ontario.
This is a
permanent position that works Monday to Friday. Some travel might be required.


As a
Supervisor, Logistics will continuously improve the work team performance through the effective use of established processes and procedures in achieving assigned objectives.

Improve the effectiveness of the organization while meeting the business objectives.

Additionally, in this position you will:

  • Lead a team of Logistics Administrators via coaching/mentoring to ensure the team successfully met the day-to-day, week-to-week, and month-to-month logístical requirements of Vale.
  • Manage and schedule logistic services to meet truck, rail, and port requirements, to and from various Vale Canada sites.
  • Lead communications with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure safety, production, and business plans are adhered to.
  • Manage Vale logistic contracts and identify opportunities for improvement by providing logistics expertise.
  • Oversee and complete administrative duties relating to the effective performance of the business unit.
  • Hold team and stakeholders accountable for safety, behavior, teamwork, and professionalism.
  • Carry out tasks as assigned by the Manager or their designate to achieve the desired results within an agreedupon timeline and end state.
  • Work within budget, guidelines, and standards to execute Safety and Execution Plans as established by the Manager or his/her designate.
  • Foster a climate of safety, mutual trust, and respect among all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Work collectively with peers and crossfunctionally with colleagues in Operations, Technical Services, Finance, and Marketing to achieve the objectives of the annual Production Plan.

About You

Education**:

  • Grade 12 level education or GED equivalency is required.
  • A University or Engineering Degree would be an asset.

Experience:


  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive supervision/related experience.
  • Experience in Logistics and/or Procurement required.

Skills:


  • Computer skills including SAP, Excel, and Word.
  • Ability to decipher and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Verbal and written communication must be able to accurately inform, capture interest, and gain support in a clear and concise manner.
  • Health safety must be able to recognize, prioritize, and understand the controls required to mitigate risks in the workplace.
  • Judgment must be able to consider the situation, the issues, and the people involved. This involves identifying, defining, and analyzing problems or situations. It also involves the use of reason and the formulation of viable solutions and potential improvements.
  • Courage must be able to demonstrate a reasonable trust in personal abilities.
  • Business sense must be able to use the formal and informal technical and human resources systems and contacts, including supervisors, managers, departments, etc., to achieve needed results.
