Who we need


Reporting to the Director, Marketing & Communications, we are looking for a Bilingual Communications Specialist to join our growing team.

Your initial priority will be to set a tone and cadence for streamlined peer communications as a result of our recent acquisition and merger, creating a single, consistent voice and amplifying our brand from a talent perspective.

You will play a strategic role, acting as a project manager to take a communication plan from idea to execution, ensuring the format and messaging fits - and engages - the target internal or external audience.

With the majority of the team based in Toronto, we are open to a remote or hybrid work model.

What you will do:


  • Develop communication plans. You will develop messaging with a consistent brand voice across all communication channels and ensure adherence to our Securian Canada brand guidelines. You will support with determining tactics, building messaging, and rolling out communication plans to internal and external audiences on products, services, and internal programs encompassing DE&I, engagement, performance development, total rewards, etc.
  • Think in French. You will go beyond translation to plan and create French content that respects the culture and style of our audience in Quebec. You will ensure that the percentage of content we generate in French meets the needs of our customers, clients, and partners.
  • Monitor trends. You will stay up to date with industry trends, the competitive landscape, emerging technologies, and new and best practices in communications to continuously refine our communications strategies.
  • Collaborate. You will work closely with crossfunctional teams to ensure consistency and accuracy of messaging and brand adherence. You will partner with external agencies and vendors, including freelance writers, translators and designers, to produce highquality communication materials.

What you will bring:


  • The communications expertise. You are a writer and content creator. You have worked in a range of business settings, including corporate communications or public relations, within a geographically dispersed or matrix environment. You have experience developing and implementing engaging communications for internal and external stakeholders, taking a concept from start to finish. You can adapt your approach and format to fit the audience and the message. Your strength lies in your ability to conceptualize, write exceptionally well, and edit in either language, with an understanding of the implications of French writing from a cultural perspective.
  • The interpersonal skills. You can nurture collaborative and trusting relationships at any level. You can confidently advise internal stakeholders on how to develop and roll out organizational messaging. You take a consultative approach to gathering information, asking probing questions, reflecting and organizing findings.
