What you will do:


The Coordinator Payroll Service is the Team Leader for the department and is responsible for the coordination of all aspects of the department, including payroll processes and system functionality, training and mentoring.

This position provides expertise and recommendations, leads projects, and acts as a key resource to the Payroll Services team, the broader HR team, and stakeholders throughout the organization, through a specialized knowledge of related processes.


What you will bring:


  • Three (3) year college diploma in Accounting;
  • Canadian Payroll Association certification designation;
  • Minimum five (5) years' experience in a payroll environment with greater than 7000 employees and with multiple unions;
  • Experience in planning and leading various projects, including Payroll system upgrade projects;
  • Experience coordinating work from several areas of expertise;
  • Experience in documenting processes;
  • Indepth knowledge of and experience with computerized payroll systems and related project coordination experience, including processing and reporting;
  • Indepth knowledge of pension and benefits, including processing and reporting;
  • Excellent understanding of Payroll accounting principles;
  • Solid understanding of Oracle PeopleSoft tables and configurations;
  • Thorough knowledge of relevant Canada Revenue Agency statutes and regulations as they pertain to production and reporting on employee payroll;
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of General Ledger concepts and account reconciliations;
  • Practical knowledge of union agreements, benefit plans and experience with interpretation of collective agreements and overall knowledge of the HR and Benefits processes and policies;
  • Advanced knowledge of office automation software packages (spreadsheets, databases, presentation and document processing;
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills;
  • Proven administrative skills combined with initiative, sound professional judgment, research and decisionmaking competence;
  • Ability to meet deadlines, organize and exercise control over workloads;
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with all workrelated contacts;
  • Advanced skills in complex automated financial and human resources software systems.
