PK Developments is a diverse construction company, developing and building single family, apartments, and townhomes
Reporting to the Project manager, the Estimator / Coordinator will be responsible for plan take-offs, pre-construction estimates, trade tender packages.
Estimator Responsibilities:
Producing accurate cost estimates for a variety of projects
- Produce accurate material take offs for all aspects of the project.
- Completing the estimating required to provide construction budgets to the Project Manager.
- Produce budget recommendations for all scopes of work required.
- Lead the subcontractor procurement process.
- Development of trade scope of work, including definitions and assumptions.
- Calling for tenders from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Responding to RFI's and provide clarifications to bidders.
- Review and analyze bids and proposals received for accuracy related to cost and scope. Obtain clarifications from bidders, and provide summary for bid comparison.
- Propose changes and value engineering solutions driven from the tendering process.
- Provide support to the Project Manager in the buyout of the project scopes
- Providing guidance to site and office staff.
- Reviewing invoices and monitoring expenditures to assist management with budget control
- Maintaining cost database, and sustained market awareness regarding current and future pricing trends
- Support Design through providing conceptual cost estimates and assessment of project design options, alternate assemblies or layouts
- Production of PO's and change orders as approved by field and office management.
- Assist with monthend and yearend costtocompletes as required

- Minimum 6 years production or estimating experience in Residential Construction industry
Multi-Family Residential
Estimator Qualifications & Experience:
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Building, Construction Management, Architectural Technologies, Quantity Surveying or equivalent from a recognized technical institute.
- Minimum 5 years production or estimating experience in Residential Construction industry
- Expert working knowledge of Excel, and Bluebeam. Experience with MS Project is considered an asset.
- Experience estimating midrise wood framed multifamily construction including below grade parkade structures, and Townhome developments is strongly desired.
- Experience estimating multistory noncombustible building construction, tenant improvements and assisted living facilities is considered an asset.
- Excellent working knowledge of the Alberta, or BC Building Codes.
- Capable of interpreting consultant drawings and specifications including architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, civil and landscaping disciplines.
- Strong understanding of Subcontractors' scopes of work, and what should be included in their bid
- Mathematical skills and analytical skills necessary to do material and labor estimates
- Proficient in excel and all similar Microsoft programs
- Effective interpersonal skills with proven ability to work with a diverse group and personalities.
- Proven organizing, analytical decision making and negotiating skills.
- Strong adaptability to ever changing workload demands is required.
