Job Summary:


Reporting directly to the Executive Chef and under the guidance of the Sous Chef (where applicable), the incumbent is responsible for safely operating dishwashing equipment, related tasks and general cleaning duties, in accordance with Company and legislative/regulatory standards, policies and procedures.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Safely and effectively operate commercial dishwasher equipment, including scraping, stacking and putting away dishes, glass wear and cutlery.
  • Perform routine cleaning of kitchen equipment, fixtures and appliances.
  • Remove garbage and breakdown cardboard boxes for recycling.
  • Clean floors and walls, cabinets and food preparation areas to ensure a sanitary environment which passes all health and safety regulations and inspections.
  • Assist with unpacking and storing of incoming groceries.
  • Adhere to all appropriate workplace regulations, compliances, and legislation regarding health and safety, food preparation standards, and Company policies and procedures.
  • Be continually aware of, and maintain, the highest standards of professionalism by following the Company dress code and/or wearing the Company uniform.
  • Attend staff meetings and participate in mandatory training as required.
  • Safe food handling education required annually.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Performance Requirements:

  • Continuously follows the principles of "good customer service" and ensure that these values are demonstrated in day to day practices.
  • Demonstrates the ability to interact effectively with team, suppliers, residents and families as well as external community resources.
  • Demonstrates solid organizational and time management skills.
  • Clear criminal records check.
  • Up to date immunizations.

Education & Skills:

  • Partial completion of High School, and/or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Sound English communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of restaurant kitchen duties is an asset.

Working Environment, Special Skills and Physical Job Requirements:

  • Work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays; occasional overtime as required.
  • Daily exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures.
  • Bend, kneel, and work with arms raised for at least 3 hours per day.
  • Walk and stand on a variety of surfaces for at least 3 hours per day.
  • Use of kitchen cleaning chemicals typically used in the industry.
