Position Summary:
The Business Development Manager leads a team of Outside Sales Staff who are the face of Dick's Lumber & Building Supplies in the marketplace.
Their primary purpose is to drive business to Dick's Lumber & Building Supplies by meeting with customers or potential customers on job sites, in the customer office or at events and places relative to the business.
The Business Development Manager is to maintain strong customer relationships with existing customers while developing new customers by offering professional, effective, and efficient solutions.
The Business Development Manager will work with and develop their team to enhance those relationships and maximize Dick's Lumber's & Building Supplies position in the marketplace.
The Business Development Manager promotes and sells existing and new products to meet Dick's Lumber & Building Supplies sales objectives.
Expectation is that the Business Development Manager is aligned with the policies, procedures, goals, and direction of Dick's Lumber & Building Supplies.
Responsibilities:
- This is a fulltime career orientated position and expected to be the employee's primary job.
- To develop and enhance the sales capabilities of the team they lead.
- Represent Dick's Lumber in a professional manner and ensure that the customer is treated with the utmost respect and courtesy.
- Provide Outside Sales Staff with knowledge training (directly or indirectly).
- Coash Outside Sales Staff on how to be successful in their role.
- Make sure customers receive requested products and services in a timely fashion.
- Follow up with customers to ensure satisfaction.
- Resolve customer complaints and objections including investigating, interpreting policy, and taking the appropriate action to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Perform other jobrelated duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of three (3) years sales and customer service experience in the lumber, building materials or construction industry.
- Minimum of five (5) years supervisory experience.
- Strong knowledge of industry products, architectural/structural plans, and industry trends.
- Ability to read blueprints.
- Post-Secondary education in Business Administration, Sales and Marketing or a related discipline would be advantageous.
- Demonstrated sales and coldcalling experience, ideally within the industry.
- Elevated level of commitment to superior customer service.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills. Must be able to communicate and interact with individuals at all levels of the organization.

- Knowledge of a second language would be advantageous.
- Attention to detail and effective analytical and problemsolving skills.
- Highly organized in prioritizing work, multitasking, and consistently meeting deadlines within a fastpaced work environment.
- Demonstrated initiative with the ability to work in a collaborative teambased environment.
- Above average interpersonal skills with the ability to be tactful and diplomatic and to develop and maintain strong professional relationships.
- Ability to negotiate skillfully in tough situations with both internal and external groups.
- Working knowledge of OH&S and WCB regulations.
REQUIRED a valid BC or AB Driver's License.
Efforts:
- Position requires the incumbent to always present a professional sales image to the customer.
- Dress to be in Dick's Lumber logoed attire (collared shirt) and or business professional attire.
- Requires close attention to details.
- Ability to process a high volume of transactions in a timely manner.
- Some pressure and stress are related to various timelines.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs.
- Frequent standing and walking.
Working Conditions:
- Availability will be 7 days per week, with primary time during store hours Monday to Friday, 6:30 a.m. 5:00 p.m. Circumstances may dictate where evenings and weekends are necessary.
- As this is a leadership position, expectations are the hours may vary week to week depending on what is occurring in the marketplace and customer's expectations.
- Travel Time: Job will require 65% of the time to be on the road servicing and meeting customers or potential customers.
- Busy, highvolume environment.
- In many areas, safety equipment such as steel toe shoes, eye, ear and head protection and safety vests are required.
- Exposure to dust, noise, and debris on job sites.
Pay:
$65,000.00-$100,000.00 per year
