Working at Walker

At Walker, your contribution matters. Become part of a team you can count on and where your health and safety are our priority. Our team of more than 1200 people work in environmental waste management and recovery, renewable energy, paving and construction, aggregates, and emulsions chemistries. We are a fifth-generation, family-owned company founded in 1887, operating from our base in the Niagara Region with facilities across Canada and the United States. We care about the environment, each other, and our neighbours, and give back to our communities. Join us on our journey to build a sustainable future, together.

About the Job

Ready to take your sales career to the next level in the aggregate and ready mix industry?

We're looking for a driven, relationship-focused Sales Representative to join our Grey-Bruce team on a 24-month contract, selling Ready Mix Concrete and Aggregates across the region. This is a unique opportunity to manage sales for both product lines — giving you broader market exposure, deeper industry involvement, and the chance to truly own your territory. Reporting directly to the Sales Manager, you'll focus on identifying new opportunities, strengthening existing customer partnerships, negotiating competitive sales agreements, and developing smart market strategies — all while ensuring an exceptional customer experience from first quote to final pour.

Based out of our Kemble office, with travel to sites throughout Grey-Bruce.

Salary range: $66,000 – $76,000, based on experience and qualifications.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Build and strengthen customer relationships through regular contact, product updates, and proactive service.

  • Prepare accurate and competitive estimates using established corporate pricing practices.

  • Collaborate closely with our internal construction and operations teams to coordinate projects and pricing strategies.

  • Conduct market research to identify and pursue new opportunities using industry associations, trade publications, trade shows, directories, and online resources.

  • Visit customer sites to assess needs and recommend the right ready mix or aggregate solutions.

  • Investigate and resolve customer concerns quickly and professionally.

  • Support the credit team with collections on overdue accounts to ensure smooth business operations.

  • Provide backup support to inside sales and assist with administrative functions when needed.

  • Represent the company at industry events and meetings to stay current on products, pricing, and market trends.

  • Take on additional responsibilities as needed — because in this industry, flexibility matters.

Here's What You Need

  • 2–5 years of experience in a sales role (construction materials experience is an asset).

  • Concrete and aggregate technical knowledge preferred.

  • Valid G Driver's License and access to a reliable vehicle.

  • Strong customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills.

  • Ability to identify, analyze, and solve problems independently.

  • Proficiency in preparing reports, proposals, presentations, and other sales documentation.

  • Understanding of quality standards in sales and business development.

  • Self-motivated and able to work with limited supervision.

  • Professional, tactful, and confident working with colleagues and leadership at all levels.

  • Adaptable and comfortable working with diverse personalities and work styles.

  • Proactive mindset — you anticipate needs and take action.

What's in it for you

  • You become part of a team you can count on

  • A comprehensive total rewards package and benefits to support your wellbeing

  • Leaders who support your growth and success

  • A workplace that provides the best health & safety practices in industry

  • Give back to your community with two paid volunteer days annually and opportunities to become involved in events
