Duties:


  • Assist in the delivery of Vocational and Rehabilitative Services for inpatients and outpatients of the Forensic Treatment Unit at Brockville Mental health Centre
  • Work as a member of an interdisciplinary team to develop/ implement individualized treatment plans.
  • Work collaboratively, cooperatively and effectively with the individuals in care both within the hospital and community settings.
  • Supporting the Vocational Counsellor(s) and in collaboration with rehabilitative services, assisting in the assessment of vocational potential of clients, developing individual rehabilitation goals and plans.
  • Assist in the development and implement vocational programs to meet clients' needs.
  • Assist clients with job readiness through resume writing, interview techniques, job coaching, job searches etc.
  • Reporting client progress to the Vocational Counsellor and Treatment Team to promote client goals.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge and practice of program policies, procedures, applicable legislation, and mental health practices.
  • Liaise with community partners to provide both educational and vocational opportunities for clients.
  • Work in a manner that is in compliance with staff and patient/client safety practices, policies and procedures of The Royal.
  • Other duties may reasonably be assigned.

Qualifications:


  • Successful completion of a postsecondary degree or diploma in Social Sciences or other Health science education ( e.i. Occupational Therapy Assistant, Physiotherapy Assistant, Developmental Service Worker )
  • Experience working with clients with a mental illness
  • Access to an reliable vehicle and valid G driver's license
  • Knowledge of vocational rehabilitation theory, practice and intervention, techniques such as adult learning principles, clinical case management, job analysis, selective placement etc.
  • Ability to interpret relevant legislation and procedures to identify eligibility for funding
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Mental Health Act, Health Care Consent Act, and Substitute Decision Act
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as a member of a professional multidisciplinary treatment team
  • English level A is mandatory in oral expression, oral comprehension, reading comprehension and written expression. Bilingual (French/English) is considered an asset.

Salary Range:

- $31.66 to $34.60 per hour
