Job Description:


To schedule, conduct and maintain calibration/qualification and preventative maintenance programs and execution of all laboratory equipment calibration and maintenance according to guidelines and procedures.

Evaluate new calibration methods and procedures. Use statistics to analyze measurement standards and process. Recommend calibration standards and IM&TE. Maintain calibration and/or departmental accreditation, and quality systems. Perform laboratory analysis on drug substances and drug products on occasion. Perform laboratory investigations on OOS/OOT results and on instruments related issues. Ensures validation of laboratory equipment.

The incumbent must be capable of multi-tasking in order to provide support for laboratory hardware while working together as a team player with laboratory personnel and Department Heads on a regular basis.


  • Ensure all equipment is calibrated, qualified according to SOPs
  • Label equipment with the latest calibration/maintenance labels.
  • Troubleshoot instrumentation issues.
  • Technical knowledge of repairs for laboratory instruments
  • Participate in new instrument requirement determination activities.
  • Develop instrument qualification documents including but not limited to:
  • IQ, OQ and PQ Protocols
  • Execute qualification protocols.
  • Maintain calibration and preventative maintenance schedule.
  • Develop and formalize calibration procedures ensuring all laboratory instruments have calibration SOPs.
  • Perform calibration testing in accordance with these procedures.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on analytical instruments.
  • Monitor maintenance status of individual instruments and coordinate with external service technicians as required.
  • Participation in the Change Control Process
  • Participate in training for the usage of laboratory instruments.
  • Maintain calibration data in an organized format.
  • Perform and execute testing as per methods, following the company SOPs and cGMP guidelines.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Microbiology or related biological science or equivalent in job experience.
  • Minimum of one year of relevant pharmaceutical lab experience with emphasis on instrumental methods are a must for this position.
  • Prior technical experience in a bio/chemistry related role would be preferred.
  • Experience working in a regulated Laboratory environment or pharmaceutical company, but also with implementation and support experience with laboratory instrumentation.
  • Prepare IQ, OQ and PQ Protocols and Reports
  • Execute qualification protocols.
  • Maintain calibration and preventative maintenance schedule.
  • Develop and formalize calibration procedures ensuring all laboratory instruments have calibration SOPs.
  • Change Control Process
  • Participate in training for the usage of laboratory instruments.
  • Perform calibration testing according to associated SOPs.
  • Review calibration data
  • Issue calibration certificates
  • Perform preventative maintenance on analytical instruments.
  • Coordinate with external service technicians.
  • Maintain calibration data in an organized format.
  • Perform all work in compliance with company SOPs, and regulatory and safety standards.
  • Good understanding of the lab quality control processes
  • Good understanding with GMP guidelines
  • Investigate equipment repair requests, maintain equipment repair request database and
- documentation

  • Technical knowledge of basic repairs for laboratory instruments
  • Maintain all department databases.
