The work of Plasma Associates is integral to Canadian Blood Services role as
Canada's Lifeline.

Reporting to the Plasma Centre Manager, you will be responsible for performing assigned duties associated with the plasma donation and production process as defined by standard operating procedures.

You will participate in projects/continuous improvement initiatives that contribute to the success of the program.

You will also act as an ambassador of the program to promote and contribute to a collaborative and customer-centric work environment.


Key responsibilities include:


  • Assembles and prepares supplies, equipment and associated documentation required to expedite collection process
  • Conducts confidential donor screening, obtains donor consent, completes donor registration, and responds to inquiries and concerns regarding plasma donation/process, etc.
  • Performs venepuncture according to established standards
  • Ensures completeness of information in IT system for products
  • Prepares product samples for shipment to testing facility and to fractionator and ensures documentation requirements and products meet specifications
  • Prepares product for freezing, monitors temperature, and centrifuges product samples as per established procedures
  • Assists with various recruitment/retention initiatives designed to further grow or engage the donor base
  • Participates in the development and maintenance of an effective nonconformance program, which includes data collection and analysis, root cause analysis, monitoring of its effectiveness, and recommending and implementing process improvement activities as needed

Required Skills:


  • Postsecondary level education in a relevant discipline from a recognized institution preferably in science/health related field of study
  • A minimum of three years of progressive experience working with the public, particularly in a high customerfocused environment
  • Completion of a formal training program in phlebotomy is an asset
  • Experience with current Good Manufacturing Practices is an asset
  • Excellent communication skills in English, with French considered an asset
  • Adaptable, flexible and comfortable with frequent changes
  • Must be detailoriented and capable of working in a highly regulated environment
  • The ability to exercise judgment, tact, diplomacy and strict confidentiality are mandatory
  • Computer literacy required
