Protection & Control Communication Technologist - Sechelt (CPC Technologist)

$ 55.A journeyperson CPC Technologist shall undertake work on communications, protection, and control equipment and
Perform maintenance on the protection, communication, and control systems in BC Hydro; detecting and responding to power system faults, controlling system devices, and data and voice transfer throughout the
Install and maintain substation equipment, as well as generator control systems, excitation systems, and governors

• Install and maintain protective relaying equipment for detecting and responding to power system faults, and control

Install and maintain a variety of telecommunications equipment including microwave, power line carrier, very high
frequency/ultrahigh frequency radio system equipment, teleprotection, telephone, and supervisory control & data acquisition
Analyze fault records to verify equipment performance, oversee testing of plant equipment, and write technical reports

• Commission and acceptance-test new and upgraded equipment installations
• Review and maintain drawings associated with protection, control, and communications systems

Completed a national diploma program in electrical / electronics engineering technology from an accredited institution,
preferably with a power and/or communications option

• Computer literacy in English
• Mechanical aptitude is also required
