Job Number:49135**An exciting opportunity exists for an individual in the Asset Management section of Waste Services. Your primary role as a Mechanical Maintenance Planner is to maximize mechanic equipment reliability and service life expectancy, as well as improve workforce productivity and work quality of the contracted maintenance personnel working within the Waste Services Branch.
Your success will be measured by the quality of your created maintenance program and plans.
What will you be doing?
- Plan and estimate material and resources required to complete corrective work of medium or lower priority, as identified by Operations Maintenance, Engineering and Management Staff
- Evaluate job feedback and analyze historical and statistical maintenance and operational data to provide summary reports and recommendations for preventive maintenance improvements
- Develop and update comprehensive work packages, standard jobs/standard tasks to improve the efficiency of the planning process
- Identify spare parts, determining if they need to be stocked or not, and work with materials management personnel to establish part numbers in SAP
- Improve and develop new or existing Preventive Maintenance plans for maintaining all of the equipment within Waste Services
- Work with the Operations personnel and Maintenance Supervision area, you will assist in creating weekly maintenance activity schedules. The schedule will consist of preauthorized preventive maintenance plans and planned corrective work
- Mentor tradespeople, where required, on specific work packages for the execution of work
- Provide handson Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) training for other site staff as required
Qualifications:
- Certified Alberta Journeyman as a Millwright. Successful completion of coursework in maintenance planning and management, Preventative and Predictive Maintenance
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in all aspects of mechanical equipment commissioning and maintenance, breakdown analysis and repair, refurbishment and related activities in an industrial environment
Skills Required for Success:
- Considerable knowledge of industrial mechanical equipment, including common failure modes, their diagnosis and applicable preventive maintenance practices
- Knowledge of waste material processing facilities and equipment including conveyors, separators,trommels, and shredders
- Ability with SAP Plant Maintenance Module, including maintenance plan create and master data management
- Conduct work in a manner that complies with the requirements set out in the City's Environmental Management System (EMS)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills

Conditions of Employment:
- Hire is dependent on Police Information Check satisfactory to the City of Edmonton
- Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's licence (or provincial equivalent). Obtaining and maintaining a City Driver's permit is a requirement of this position
- Must be able to arrange their own transportation to be reimbursed in accordance with City of Edmonton policy. This may require business auto insurance
- Compliance with the City of Edmonton's safety standards for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
