The Sr. Advisor Turnaround Procurement is a pivotal role to achieve our goals of capital procurement excellence. This team member will have the unique opportunity to help develop and execute against best in class sourcing, procure-to-pay execution and execution of turnaround projects across Nutrien business units, including deep interaction with stakeholders across Category Management and Site Operations teams.

We look for someone with the right experience, ambition, practicality and impact orientation to participate in this opportunity. The primary goal of this role will be to ensure site turnaround needs are procured on time and deployed efficiently for turnaround projects, maximizing ROI while managing safety and reliability. This role will report to the Senior Turnaround Manager, Upstream Capital Procurement.

What You'll Do:

  • Manage the timely execution of procurement material and service needs to support turnaround projects in dedicated regions by conducting RFx, fulfilling purchase requests, and working with requesters and suppliers to process POs.
  • Establish best-in-class standard practices for effectively executing planned turnaround projects across N&P sites and support standardization of current processes.
  • Source materials and services while minimizing total cost of ownership and meeting safety, reliability, and quality requirements.
  • Monitor and report on supplier performance during pre-turnaround, execution, and post-turnaround activities.
  • Support data collection and provide input into turnaround cost categories, spend trends, intelligence, and KPIs required to manage services across sites.
  • Implement continuous improvement and cost-saving initiatives with suppliers.
  • Work directly with the Senior Manager of Turnarounds, Site Procurement Managers, and Turnaround Planning teams to efficiently execute planned procurement needs so each turnaround project is completed on time with reliable materials at the lowest total cost of ownership.
  • Ensure sites receive all necessary turnaround materials and services in a timely manner for planned turnaround projects.
  • Support open PO reports by assisting expeditors with data requests as needed.
  • Provide procurement-specific support to global shared end users to ensure material requisitions are completed correctly and thoroughly.
  • Execute the procure-to-pay process accurately and efficiently to source required goods and services.
  • Monitor and manage supplier lead times to ensure on-time delivery and maintain a proactive lead-time program.
  • Direct and oversee local RFx and bidding events for turnaround materials where global agreements are not in place.
  • Lead the development of deliverables for each turnaround project phase and leverage market indicators to identify future demand patterns.
  • Comply with procurement policies, processes, and digital tools.
  • Build strong site relationships within the dedicated region by engaging with leadership and buyers across all turnaround planning and execution phases and establishing best practices to share with the Senior Manager for cross-site synergies.
  • Communicate regularly with the Senior Manager of Turnarounds and Site Procurement Managers to apply best demonstrated practices for executing turnaround projects and provide updates on procurement strategies.
  • Engage frequently with the Capital Planning team and site personnel to understand procurement needs and timing for dedicated sites and projects, including scope of work, work orders, and bill of materials.

What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, management.
  • 6+ years of solid experience in both industrial processes and procurement. Deep knowledge base of strategic thinking, analytics, procurement, operations and maintenance.
  • Understanding of the capital planning process for turnaround.
  • Deep familiarity with the Microsoft office suite and the ability to learn quickly.
  • Clear and solid understanding of, and practical experience with, enterprise asset management systems (SAP/Oracle), spend management tools (e.g., Ariba, Analysis & Reports), data management tools and S2P systems (eProcurement).
  • Impact orientation and bias to action – Nutrien is looking for a proactive member to deliver considerable value to the procurement function.
  • Excellent analytical skills, ability to synthesize and identify solutions to the problems of the operation with the lowest cost of ownership.
  • Ability to analyze processes in user areas, preferably knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Excellent ability to relate to suppliers, managers, and supervisors in Procurement.
  • Excellent ability to handle tough challenges and negotiations.
  • Empathy and relational skills for teamwork.
  • Proactive and continuous search for change and improvement.
