About the Opportunity:

Under the direction of the Provincial Manager — Health Promotion, the Health Promotion Specialist is responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of health promotion initiatives across the life-span.

These initiatives will be desigied to reduce the harms and injuries associated with substance use, gambling and to promote mental wellness and health equity.

Working as part of a diverse team, the Health Promotion Specialist must have advanced knowledge of health promotion strategies and theories, population health approach, harm reduction, and the social determinants of health.

About You:

Bachelor's degree in Health Promotion or Health Education required
Minimum 1 year related experience utilizing health promotion framework to inform policy changes and to develop programs aimed at promoting health, preventing disease, enhancing population health outcomes
Background and experience in research methods, policy development, analysis and critical appraisal including awareness of evidence informed decision making
Strong analytical ability to interpret data and convey results in a way that is meaningful to key audiences
Knowledge of local community resources
Experience in facilitation, project management, planning, problemsolving and organizational skills
Proficient in Windows & Microsoft Office Suite Package with superior skills in in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook programs
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, manages time efficiently, adheres to timelines, follows team and individualized work plans, and prioritizes tasks.
Nonviolent crisis intervention, Mental Health First Aid, CPR/Standard First Aid
Valid Nova Scotia driver's license, access to a reliable vehicle, and appropriate insurance coverage is required
Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours:

Long Assignment Part Time (60%) position; 42 hours biweekly
Approximately 18 months
Some travel throughout the zones may be required

Compensation and Incentives:

$ $40.22 hourly
