About the Role


Reporting to the Purchasing and Business Development Manager, the Purchasing Officer is responsible for providing comprehensive and confidential administrative support for the department.

Assisting with the maintenance of Canada Royal Milk's Global supply chain, the Purchasing Officer is responsible for supporting the department Manager to source suppliers, build supplier relationships, negotiate contracts and ensure cost containment.


Working collaboratively across all departments, with frequent interaction with QA, Supply Chain and Production, the Purchasing Officer will be involved with all aspects of operational support including coordination with Feihe's purchasing team in Beijing.


Recruitment Timeline
Commercial production is underway and production hours will increase in phases to meet demand. Recruitment is continuous with jobs starting within 3 weeks as well as into the first quarter of 2021.


Job Requirements

Education:
Related University Degree or College Diploma in Business Management, Supply Chain or related field.


Experience:


  • 12 years of experience in purchasing or business to business sales
  • 12 years of business to business relationship management

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Comprehensive and confidential administrative support, including but not limited to; research, data management, business correspondence, developing policies and procedures, completing financial paperwork, and reporting on department progress;
  • Building supplier relationships; quarterly meetings to review performance and cost reduction ideas, supplier site visits to ensure compliance and capability related to cost;
  • Identify and source new suppliers and vendors; manage vendor and supplier selection process based on price, quality, support, capacity, and reliability
  • Record and maintain up to date supplier information and contracts;
  • Track orders, invoices, and delivery information
  • Issue purchase orders (POs): set up new suppliers, create blanket purchase orders, create standard POs, maintain cost files;
  • Verifies receipt of goods and services and works with Accounts Payable to resolve discrepancies;
  • Request for quote (RFQ) activities: create RFQs, send to suppliers, compare cost, provide feedback, issue business award and letter of intent
  • Under the direction of the Purchasing and Business Development Manager, source and develop potential customers, responsible for networking and establishing new business relationships
  • Assist to negotiate, review, and manage contracts and agreements;
  • Provide clear, concise communication and support for the implementation of contracts and programs
  • Ensure timely procurement of milk in the right quality, quantity, and cost;
  • Utilize ERP system to drive effective data analysis that improves procurement, purchasing and planning performance
  • Demonstrate good judgment in safeguarding customer, company, vendor, and employee information
  • Other duties and projects may be assigned.

Working Conditions
The standard office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. Most of the work occurs during regular weekday office hours. However, as an international company with continuous 24-7 operations, hours of work involved may vary to accommodate business needs. Flexible hours are required and may include evening and week-end hours from time to time.


As a dairy processor and infant formula manufacturer, CRM strives to exceed regulatory requirements for food safety, quality, hygiene, and good manufacturing practices.

All employees who enter the processing areas for any reason must comply with all food safety protocols in addition to health and safety best practices.


Most work is performed in an office environment, with some requirements to work in other areas of the facility as needed.
