If you're looking for a challenge and meaningful role, you're in the right place.- Dow Canada has an exciting opportunity for a PhD student interested in working in the Research and Development Analytical Laboratory in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta. The intern will be working with a crossfunctional team whose highlevel goal is to use measurement science to address analytical challenges and to provide technical support for plant operations and optimization. Goals of the project(s) could include improving process measurements in various hydrocarbon processes from natural gas to oil sands activities. Other projects may include the study of various polymers including microparticles or may be involved with analytical instrument development. The intern will bring their skills and experiences to work with a group of R&D scientists to accelerate delivery on high priority projects.
- Length of Assignment:
- Typically, this is a 1014 week internship. This internship could be parttime (<20 hours per week) to fulltime (40 hours per week).
Timing:
- Internship start date will commence in 2023.
- Key Traits:
- Eagerness and passion for measurement science to address analytical problems with technical complexity
- Familiar with chemical, polymer, material properties, and/or measurement science
- Able to quickly assimilate and understand technology
- Able to participate in defining and conducting research on projects using advanced knowledge of scientific principles, theory, and experimental design within a scientific discipline
- Agile and adaptable with an ability to drive results in the face of ambiguity (how to box in an openended problem)
- Able to work independently but also in local, global, and remote teams
- Effective written and oral communicator.
- Excellent timemanagement skills and ability to work under tight deadlines
- Organized and responsive. Detailed oriented
- Required Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a Ph.
- A minimum GPA of on a scale of in current graduate school.
- A valid driver's license and reliable transportation to the site is required.
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada without company support or sponsorship
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in separation science, particularly with knowledge of gas chromatography and hyphenated techniques, is an asset.
- Demonstration of mechanical skills, like stainless steel tubing connections and other micro unions, is valued.
- An understanding Scientific Methodology practice, specifically in the planning and execution of experimental plans and problemsolving.
