    This role is a part of the Engineering, Technology & Capital group (ETC), and is key in guiding our network towards the successful delivery on the Automation Program.

    This role reports to the Manager, Automation.

    This position is located in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada and isnot available for remote work. This role is based out of the Nutrien corporate office in Saskatoon, but will require travel to site on a varying scale to support business needs.

    What you will do:

    • Directly assist teams across the network in developing and executing projects and initiatives to achieve strategic Automation goals
    • Provide technical and professional mentorship to engineers and technologists
    • Collaborate with key resources to develop operational standards of automated systems across the network
    • Drive continuity of process and engineering across the network as it relates to automation development and support
    • Drive collaboration and sharing of best practices across the network
    • Identify areas of opportunity for the Automation teams to align on technologies that support the immediate and long-term goals of the department
    • Establish key relationships within industry to accelerate solutions across the network through strategic vendor interactions
    • Work alongside site Automation teams to develop and maintain 'best practices' pertaining to automation development and support
    • Engage with operations, end users, engineers, and maintenance to understand and maximize the efficiencies of automated systems
    • Analyze operational data and KPI's to find opportunities for continuous improvement
    • Develop, document, test and commission projects related to automation/control systems
    • Lead development of documentation such as Control Narratives, Scope of Work, Design Criteria, Configuration Documents, Disaster Recovery Procedures, Hot Fix Tracking and Help Files

    What you will bring:

    • Ideally eight or more years of experience in an industrial environment, with subject matter expertise in automation/control systems design; those with greater or lesser amounts of experience may also be considered
    • A bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Systems Engineering, Software Systems Engineering, or a similar Engineering discipline, with a Professional Engineer designation required
    • Knowledge of soft rock mining and automation of mobile equipment in an underground environment
    • Advanced control system programming skills (PLC/DCS/HMI/SCADA)
    • Experience with commissioning and troubleshooting control system software
    • Experience with commissioning and troubleshooting field instrumentation
    • Experience with configuring and troubleshooting communication networking
    • Experience working within cross-functional teams with a strong presence to establish credibility and provide technical leadership
    • Experience in the development of new technologies, from research and design through construction and implementation
    • Track record of successful automation project delivery
    • A passion for innovation, continuous improvement, and operational excellence
