Description
Support Reaching Home Programs that are run from the Vancouver Aboriginal Friendship Centre. Assist other programs at the Vancouver Aboriginal Friendship Centre that support Reaching Home Clients. Be available to the 201 and 1660 Shelters to support Clients accessing these services.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Understand the purpose and function of all 5 Reaching Home Programs and how they operate in collaboration with other programs at the Centre

  • Housing Service Coordinator
  • Housing Service Outreach Worker
  • Client Support Worker
  • Cultural Coordinator
  • Client Support Coordinator
Support the Reaching Home Program with any tasks that allow Client Workers and Coordinators to focus on serving Clients

Provide initial intake support for Reaching Home Programs as required by Workers and Coordinators

Assist other programs in the Centre that serve the Clients in the 201 Central or 1607 Shelters

Assist the Elders Program Support on behalf of the Reaching Home Programs

Fill in as Reception and Front Desk as needed on behalf of the Reaching Home Programs

Assist programs and activities that reduce isolation for Elders in community


Education and Experience:

High school graduation plus college course work or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior work with the Indigenous Community. Understanding of programs and services at the Vancouver Aboriginal Friendship Centre and in Metro Vancouver. Demonstrated computer skills such MS Office Suite preferred. Exposure to principles of evidence-based practice, client centred and harm reduction methods. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational and multitasking skills. Demonstrated ability to show empathy and compassion with people.


Salary:
From $25.00 per hour
