Description

YQR Distillery & Fermentation Lab is eagerly looking for a Brewery Production Manager - Master Brewer to join the team to master the systems and processes of the brewery and to work with the entire brewing and packaging team to maximize the productivity and efficiency of our new operation.

This master brewer will be responsible for day-to-day brewing operations and all aspects of quality control, innovation, and the safety, maintenance, and productivity of the new facility operations.

The master brewer also response to all aspects of quality control, innovation of new products and shows full accountability for the quality of all products being produced according to operating policies, procedures, release parameters, and safety policies, in accordance with OSHA requirements at the YQR Distillery.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Roles and Responsibilities
- Responsible for daily operations of all beer brewing associated operations including brewing, cellaring, packaging and inventory control in a safe and efficient manner
- Oversee budgets, expenditures, usage, recipes and inventory of raw materials, chemicals, and brewing aids
- Lead brew-team meetings communicating current objectives, production needs, challenges and successes
- Develop a catalogue of recipes to provide a selection of core beer products and maintain inventory of all products in order to ensure the sales team can hit monthly, quarterly, and yearly goals.
- Maintain accurate brewing records, providing and updating a monthly summary/production report
- Record and report the equipment maintenance, production line and inventory log, and Research and Development report
- Manage day-to-day operations of the brewery: equipment, production, and inventory.
- Work with sale department and other associates on the plan and report of production and inventory and storage of finished products

- Actively engage in and contribute to new beer development and existing brand improvement
- Manage the production environment, equipment, and people efficiently with utmost care for standards of hygiene and food safety, abiding by all OHS regulations.
- Ensure that all safety protocols are followed and that Company's safety record is in good standing
- Lead the process for ISO 9001 certification.
- Maintain Lab establishment, including ordering and setting up necessary equipment.
- Keep up appropriate networking with suppliers, vendors and consultants
- Supervise and train brewer technicians


Qualifications
- Two years of experience in brewing or brewing / science related field OR a Formal Brewing Education as a asset
- Certification or training as auditor for ISO 9001 is an asset
- Forklift experience / certification is a plus.
- Experience in QC/QA in the beverage industry is a plus;
- Production food laboratory experience in Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA) or R&D is desired.
- Familiar with laboratory instrumentation.
- Understanding of the technical interrelationships of product, process, and raw materials to effectively make product quality, specification and compliance decisions
- Must successfully complete a criminal history background check
- Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methods
- Excellent communication and people skills
- Proficient in the use of MS Office and production management software (e.g. SAP)
- Ability to strategize and solve problem associated to the work
- Must be able to lift 25 kg over the shelf
- Must be able to move 65kg with assistance of a dolly
- Must be able to climb a ladder and handle ingredients on a ladder
- Must be able to safely navigate wet and slippery working conditions
- Must have certificate of Serve It Right Saskatchewan (SIRS), nor the work would be obtained

Daily Operation: Distillery technicians need to review and plan the facility operations in order to maximize productive efficiency. This includes, but is not limited to, sourcing raw materials and components; brewing planning, execution, and monitoring; coordinating the blending, filtering, bottling and packaging; etc.
