    Substation Electrician

    Location: Pickering, Ontario

As the demand to maintain stable and reliable energy resources across Ontario grows, our client plays a key role in ensuring this. Due to growth, they are adding a new Substation Electrician to their team.

  • What you'll be doing in the role:

  • Lead and participate in the construction of medium and high voltage electrical systems, meticulously adhering to the OESC and industry standards.
  • Oversee the installation and commissioning of medium and high voltage transformers, switchgear, and associated equipment.
  • Proficiently handle cable installation for medium and high voltage power distribution systems.
  • Proficiently terminate medium and high voltage cables, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
  • Interpret medium and high voltage electrical blueprints, schematics, and diagrams for planning and executing installations and terminations in construction projects.
  • Champion a strong commitment to safety regulations and protocols in construction and termination work, proactively mitigating risks.
  • Stay current with developments in the OESC and ensure all construction and termination work aligns with applicable regulations.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of all medium and high voltage construction and termination work, including compliance documentation and project logs.
  • What you bring to the role:

  • Post-secondary school education such as Electrical Engineering Technology is an asset
  • A Journeyperson is required
  • A minimum 5 years' experience in an electrical construction capacity
  • Proven expertise in medium and high voltage electrical systems, specifically construction settings and cable terminations
  • In-depth familiarity with the Ontario Electrical Safety Code (OESC) and industry-specific construction and termination standards
  • Proven experience reading and interpreting medium and high voltage electrical blueprints and schematics
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and extreme attention to detail
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Solid hands-on mechanical aptitude
