Our teams rely heavily on Data Science & Analytics to enable informed decision-making, drive innovation, and enhance customer service.

    We are seeking an intellectually curious and motivated individual to join our Data Science & Analytics team. In this role, you will collaborate with Engineering, Product, and Operations teams to identify crucial business issues, gain in-depth insights, and develop scalable solutions. Utilizing your quantitative and modeling skills, you will convert signals into actionable insights. The ideal candidate should possess strong analytical capabilities, excellent communication skills, and a talent for working across diverse teams in a fast-paced environment.

    This position is remote-based in the US, requiring the individual to support multiple time zones worldwide, with a primary focus on Pacific Time.

    What you'll do:
    • Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Operations, and Finance to optimize revenue loss due to fraudulent activities and abuse, and conduct thorough analyses to improve payment processes
    • Develop machine learning models and rules to detect and prevent fraud and abuse
    • Create dashboards to track key metrics and perform in-depth analysis
    • Design experiments to evaluate the impact of product and operational changes, providing valuable insights for enhancing business efficiency
    • Develop production-ready code or work with engineering teams to deploy models/rules in live environments
    • Contribute to incident responses related to fraud and abuse
    • Strike a balance between preventing fraud/abuse and ensuring a positive user experience
    About you:
    • Hold a PhD or MS in a quantitative field (e.g., Operations Research, Economics, Statistics, Sciences, Engineering)
    • Possess 5+ years of experience as a Data Analyst / Data Scientist in a technology or payments company
    • Demonstrate expertise in product knowledge and intuition, particularly in consumer product development environments
    • Proficient in quantitative programming languages like Python or R
    • Skilled in SQL and familiar with distributed data stores such as S3, Presto, Hive, and Spark
    • Effective in engaging with diverse stakeholders and establishing strong partnerships
    • Excellent communicator, capable of translating technical content for non-technical audiences
    • Strategic, impact-oriented, and able to integrate business context into data-driven questions and product development
    • Experienced in developing impactful machine learning models
    • Proficient in Data Processing tasks, including data preprocessing, transformation, normalization, and feature engineering
    • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Experience with tools like Airflow and dbt for optimizing data pipelines
    • Previous exposure to payments and fraud prevention

    The expected salary range for this role is CAD$109,000 to CAD$143,000, with equity and benefits offered based on the position. The final salary will depend on various factors, including skills, experience, qualifications, and location. Additionally, some roles may qualify for a variable bonus tied to company and employee performance.
