The Safety & Compliance Manager will be responsible for organizing and managing all safety programs and related compliance to all fleet operations.
Reporting to Senior management this role is further responsible for ensuring Health & Safety protocols are well executed at all terminals in Ontario.
JobResponsibilities:
Management of direct safety staff
Knowledge of industry rules and regulation changes
Actively liaise with the maintenance dept to ensure equipment safe operation
Knowledge of internal safety programs working directly with Operations Management
Must have strong computer skills able to work with developers to create progressive efficiencies.
Work through regulatory audits, experience is considered an asset
Direct involvement with drivers
Dispute resolution skills
Responsible for the fire and safety programs at terminals.
Advise on the investigation and reporting of accidents, incidents and non-conformances and making recommendations for corrective action
Supervise and manage team members
Lead, support and maintain Return to Work Program and inform key member of the team regarding updates of specific cases
Work with HR to maintain all WSIB related documentation and files of incidents
Track and report on KPIs relevant to Health, Safety & Compliance
Job Requirements
Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience in fleet operations.
Experience working with government agencies, MOE, MOL, POLICE and local city and fire officials
Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment (includes Excel and skills in database management and record keeping).
Must possess strong organizational and communication skills
Must have the ability to work with business operations in a safety first environment.
Self
- directed and decision-maker
Ability to handle crisis situations well
Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills
Some travel to our Ontario terminals is required
Available to be supportive to the driver fleet
Preferred
College/University degree
Certificate course in safety
Natmi certified
Customs Knowledge would be an asset.
Experience with Insurance claims & renewal process
Desire for future job progression
