Outdoor Education Specialist - 100% - 10 months

Burrlington Outdoor Resource Centre


Salary:

$ $28.18

This position is responsible for working with teachers, developing programs and delivering student field study activities at the Outdoor Resource Centres in compliance with Board policies and procedures.


Major Responsibilities:


To develop, plan, schedule and deliver Outdoor Education programs in collaboration with the Outdoor Education teacher or on his/her own.

To provide in-service sessions at scheduled events either in partnership with the Outdoor Education teacher or on his/her own.

To supervise students in seasonal/nature/outdoor based activities.

To assist in the development and review of "Search & Rescue" and emergency policies and procedures.

To assist in the purchase, maintenance, storage and inventory control of materials and equipment.

To prepare and maintain the site for seasonal/nature/outdoor based programs in collaboration with the Outdoor Education teacher.

To work as an active member of the Outdoor Education team

To attend professional development/training sessions as required

To attend meetings as required.

To perform other duties as assigned.


Line of Responsibility:

Responsible to the Principal responsible for Outdoor Education or designate.


Education, Experience, and Qualifications:

Secondary School Graduation Diploma with three years of post-secondary education in a related discipline is required.

Minimum one year related experience is required.

Current certification in First Aid and CPR is required.

A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and current Board approved/implemented software is required.

Proficient verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills are required.
