Position Description:


The Nursing and Allied Health Summer Student (NAHSS) will assist with a process improvement project supporting the Division of Haematology/Oncology supported by the Garron Family Cancer Centre.

The student will work with an interdisciplinary team and play a key role in data collection, analysis and project design and implementation.


We are recruiting for 1 Nursing or Allied Health Summer Student to support the following project:

Teen Cancer Connection - Transition to Adult Care Project:Aim to provide a current state assessment of transition to adult care practices among teams within SickKids and in oncology departments throughout Ontario and across Canada, to help inform transition processes of SickKids adolescents and young adults (AYA) to adult oncology care.


The NAHSS program specifies that all students will have the following responsibilities:


  • Must attend summer student lectureships/relevant education rounds
  • Submit a onepage project report at the end of the contract

Here's What You Need:


Essential

  • Availability to work 35 hr/week for length of project combination of virtually and on site at SickKids
  • Enrolled in an undergraduate Nursing program or Health Sciences program
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Ability to be selfdirected, to be flexible, and to take initiative
  • A commitment to understanding and aiding in the pursuit of equity, diversity, & inclusion

Assets

  • Interest in pediatric oncology, patient and family experience, adolescent and young adult (AYA) care, and process improvement
  • Experience with literature reviews and conducting interviews

Employment Type:

Full Time, Summer contract (8-10 weeks)
