    Fuel Transport is expanding rapidly and looking for a Claims Technician for our office located in Lasalle, Quebec . The person selected will be working with the direct supervisor to administer contract claims and facilitate processes for claims resolution.

    Job Summary:

  • Manage, administer and maintain the claims reporting cycle.
  • Assess the validity of client or carrier claims.
  • Prepare files, update file notes and tracking of the all file's progress.
  • Investigate and research claims and claim related incidents made by customers, receivers, shippers and carriers and third parties for: damaged goods, shortages or overages of freight, late, rejected orders, property damage.
  • Prepare all required claim related notices via letters and email for all claims;
  • Act as liaise between carriers, internal/ external clients, as applicable, to satisfy claims in all parties' best interests, as applicable.
  • Work with operations team to mitigate claims.
  • Work closely with the accounting department to resolve carrier and customer accounting issues related to claims.
  • Maintain and update claim records.
  • Review proof of delivery paperwork and prepare notices as applicable: Manage and maintain OSD record.
  • Coordinate settlement of cargo claims, property damage claim and or other claimable incidents: recommend appropriate courses of action.
  • Other administrative tasks including but not limited to preparing reports, preparing letters, filing, updating and creating electronic files.
  • Education & Qualifications

  • College degree (DEC, DEP).
  • Minimum of 3 years working experience.
  • Experience in customer service, collections and/or transportation claims an asset.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office i.e. Outlook, Excel, Word (intermediate level).
  • Ability to prioritize many different requests and handle changing priorities; able to work dependently.
  • Fully bilingual, both in English and French, verbal and written. The requirement of another language is required for this position as the candidate will be required to interact and communicate with clients, suppliers and colleagues throughout North America.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and strong customer service abilities.
  • Effective problem-solving, detail oriented, analytical and decision-making skills in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of supply chain management and/or logistics industry, transportation management software such as TMW (Truckmate) an asset.
