Please note:

Job requires shifts, on-call, standby and occasional call-back to provide technical support to ministry critical systems on a 24 hour, 7 days a week basis.

What can I expect to do in this role?: In this role, you will:

  • maintain and administer cluster's databases to ensure they are patched, tuned, recoverable, and secure;
- support new projects, provide database solutions, and support day-to-day DBA activities;
- lead corporate database design and development projects;
- recommend data management strategies; and
- provide support to resolve complex and unique database management issues.


How do I qualify?:


Technical Knowledge:

- you are efficient, knowledgeable, and experienced with, both or one of the following technologies
  • Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle
- you have hands-on experience with SQL-Server Administration, Oracle RAC, Oracle Data guard, Oracle advanced features, Oracle OEM, and Oracle Exadata (optional)


Planning and Problem-Solving Skills:

- you have the ability to identify and troubleshoot complex incidents related to database installation, administration, and performance
- you have expertise to analyze incidents of large-scale systems and to recommend solutions to meet user needs and provide insights into impact of problems or planned changes
- you have proven analytical and technical acumen to conduct research, evaluate, and recommend solutions
- you can determine implications of various design alternatives by conducting comprehensive research and developing new approaches to ensure that effective results are realized and are measurable


Analytical and Evaluative Skills:

- you can develop complex query programs to extract information and reports from production and test databases
- you can evaluate and recommend new or additional hardware/software requirements for new database systems, evaluate, and develop proposals


Communication and Interpersonal Skills:

- you can provide information to clients on database design alternatives, present formal and informal training sessions to staff, and make presentations to senior management on new data management technologies
- you can prepare system documentation, develop training materials, and prepare evaluation reports
