CRITERIA FOR AN INTERVIEW ARE AS FOLLOWS:
Minimum of two-year Community College Diploma in Business Administration, Building Sciences or Maintenance Services or related discipline/relevant field
Minimum of two (2) years' experience in school board operations, commercial real estate operations and or maintenance of commercial properties, construction/service industry
Highly effective written and verbal communication skills
Proven leadership experience and direct supervision of staff
Proven customer service-related experience
Knowledge of building construction and operations
Knowledge of HVAC, BAS and Security systems is an asset
Knowledge of Building and Fire Code compliance requirements
Knowledge of Health and Safety Act
Demonstrated ability to learn and utilize various computer software programs (e.g. SAP, Microsoft Office Products)
Visual concentration, manual dexterity and, the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Ability to deal with on the phone and in-person requests, inquiries, complaints and frequent interruptions
Ability to establish work priorities and ensure procedures are followed and deadlines are met
Ability to perform a variety of different tasks
Must possess a valid driver's license and own vehicle available to use for travel primarily within the Greater Toronto Area (eligibility for mileage reimbursement)
Availability to work outside core office hours, as required
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to and under the direction of the Supervisor of Maintenance, the primary function of the position is to supervise the day to day operations associated with the delivery of services performed by the maintenance trades staff and contractors.
Responsible to schedule, reactive and preventative maintenance on the school board buildings, grounds, and infrastructure
Responding to incidents and notifying appropriate staff, supervisors and/or authorities as required
Resolving issues within the scope of the role and escalating problems as required
Reports, as assigned, to either East/West Area Supervisor of Maintenance Services for the day to day operations of the maintenance trades and contractor functions within the GTA
Responsible for the administration of Preventative Maintenance Contractual requirements for goods and services.
Responsible for the administration and supervision of assigned trades personnel including the administration of the Union Collective Agreement governing the trades group
Manage the daily processing and approval of work requests from the computerized maintenance system
Coordinate the purchase and allocation of materials and supplies for respective trades staff
Review and monitor invoices from contract providers before authorizing payment
Attend internal and external meetings, participate on committee meetings as required
Responsible for the administrative functions associated with the management of the work order system including effective completion of work orders, sub-work orders, identifying labour and material, staff time sheets, travel allowance forms, tool and equipment inventories, vehicle administration, and conducting routine inspections of work performed etc.
