Job summary

This position performs a broad range of tasks involving development planning coordination of activities related to the implementation function of the Occupational Health and Safety Program.

Responsibilities

Fosters culture health safety through regular workplace inspections responds safety concerns complaints staff employer takes appropriate action Aids investigations accidents injuries occurs in workplace Liaises coordinates Human Resources accident investigations notes may lead employee misconduct discipline Identifies evaluates potential health safety hazards recommends corrective action Manager Prepares related reports including WorkSafe Form 7 Employer Report Injury submissions liaises Manager HR cases appeals objections Aids development materials presentations information support safety orientation delivers training programs employees required Coordinates annual hearing tests Coordinates purchase personal protection equipment staff Maintains inventory first aid supplies deficiencies noted Conducts monthly audit first aid reporting documents finding Manager Health & Safety Supports administration OHS Program elements including but not limited Workplace ergonomic evaluations audits Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System WHMIS Globalized Harmonized System GHS Occupational First Aid Attendants OFAA New employee safety orientation Inspections Investigations Informs Emergency Preparedness Response Plan Works closely collaboratively Manager Health & Safety support College emergency preparedness response goals Provides input related Safety Emergency Management Plans Participates coordination exercise planned drills Performs other duties related Education Experience Two year diploma Occupational Health & Safety accredited post-secondary institution Minimum two years experience occupational health safety public sector environment preferably educational setting Equivalent combination education experience considered Experience developing delivering WHMIS program Experience working unionized environment asset OFA Level Second First Aid instructor designation asset Excellent computer skills proficiency Microsoft Office complex databases generate reports comparative charts educational posters variety business materials Effective public speaking presentation training skills necessary Excellent customer service skills developed level integrity discretion maintain strict confidentiality handle sensitive issues tact diplomacy Excellent understanding occupational health safety regulations Codes Acts legislation essential ability analyse interpret technical documents Ability work collaborate team independently travel campuses Proven ability communicate effectively orally writing relating faculty staff backgrounds internal external Proven ability develop coordinate safety programs handle incidents investigations good judgement confidence authority Proven ability successfully promote culture Health
