    Description

    Brief Description


    We are seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to support our growing Technical Field Services business. This role focuses on estimating technical service work related to electrical testing, commissioning, and ongoing asset maintenance in accordance with NETA standards. The ideal candidate understands power systems, electrical equipment, and testing scopes — and can translate field requirements into accurate, competitive estimates.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Prepare detailed cost estimates for MV & HV electrical acceptance and maintenance testing
    • Interpret client RFQs, single-line diagrams, equipment lists, and technical specifications
    • Develop estimates aligned with NETA ATS / MTS standards
    • Define scopes of work, labour hours, crew compositions, and testing durations
    • Coordinate with engineering, field services, and project management teams
    • Identify risks, exclusions, and assumptions within estimates
    • Support proposal development, pricing strategies, and bid submissions
    • Review historical job data to improve estimate accuracy and consistency
    • Assist with change order pricing and scope adjustments as required

    • MV/HV switchgear and breakers
    • Power transformers
    • Protective relays
    • Cables (VLF, Tan Delta, PD testing)
    • Grounding systems
    • Substations and industrial power distribution systems

    Requirements

    • Electrical Engineering Technologist, Journeyman Electrician, or equivalent experience
    • 3+ years of experience in electrical estimating, testing, or field services
    • Strong understanding of NETA standards and electrical testing methodologies
    • Familiarity with industrial, utility, and oil & gas facilities (asset-heavy environments)
    • Ability to read electrical drawings and single-line diagrams
    • Strong Excel skills; experience with estimating software is an asset
    • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills

    Preferred Assets

    • NETA certification or direct NETA testing experience
    • Field experience in MV/HV testing or commissioning
    • Experience estimating service-based (time & material / lump sum hybrid) work
    • Knowledge of CSA, IEEE, and utility standards
