Traverse Program - Chilliwack
6 Month Term - Temporary - Part -Time (up to 35 hours biweekly) (Grid 23)

The Clinical Counsellor works as part of a large multi-disciplinary team that provides substance use treatment for youth in a bed based, live in setting.
The team works within the strategic objectives of the Pacific Community Resources Society (PCRS) to ensure the provision of effective and efficient services to our participants.
This clinical position will provide group-based therapy with a focus on substance use/misuse, mental health, and life skills.Groups facilitated will use evidence-based interventions such as attachment theory, child and adolescent growth and development, counselling theories such as CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused and Existential and Experiential therapies.
The clinical counsellor will balance clinical methodologies with recreational and relationship-based practice all within a strength-based, trauma-informed approach. This position requires a sound understanding of addictions, mental health, and trauma-informed practices.Primary Duties:
- Develop, plan, and facilitate program groups in line with program themes and objectives within the Traverse model of care. Groups include therapeutic processing, psychoeducation, and recreation therapy.
- Communicate frequently and engage in team meetings, program planning and evaluation.
- Provide advocacy, support and counselling as needed to program participants in a safe environment using evidencebased interventions.
- Engage in periodic evaluation and review of participant treatment goals and renegotiate as appropriate.
- Ensure coordination and ongoing communication with clinical lead, YSW leads and other members of the team and support networks.
- Maintain appropriate documentation and tracking of program groups and activities.
- Incorporate recreationbased therapy to planned groups in coordination with program staff.
- Participate on committees, working groups, and associations; and develop community networks relevant to traverse service delivery.
Academic and Job Experience Required:
- Master's degree or B.A. in a related discipline, as well as registration with a clinical body such as B.C. Association of Clinical Counsellors or Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association with three (3) years' experience as a clinical counsellor.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
- A practical understanding of substance use, mental health, and traumainformed practices.
- Experience working with marginalized populations in a group setting an asset.
Basic Requirements:
- Proof of being fully Vaccinated for Covid 1
- Tuberculosis and medical clearance
- Current standard first aid certificate
- Class 5 Driver's license with business use insurance
- Use of own vehicle required (Mileage is paid)
- Driver's abstract
- Criminal Record Check including the vulnerable sector.

Salary Range: $37.54/hour - $39.22/hour, plus benefit package (100% employer-paid)
