You will be part of the Global Markets Finance team, which comprises of our Credit trading businesses, debt and equity underwriting as well as our Central Funding Group. The Manager – Wholesale Financial Control plays a key role in redesigning and implementing our core financial governance and control processes. This role is integral in creating a collaborative and effective environment with stakeholders from operations, IT, risk management, and other Finance functional areas to achieve a strong financial control framework to support the success of our businesses.     What will you do?

    • You will play a central role with respect to accounting issues, orchestrating relevant activities through functional partners to enable Front Office transactions. As a result, you will:
      • Build effective working relationships across operations, business, and across other finance teams to improve sharing of business and financial information and establish yourself as a trusted business partner and the first port of call in resolving finance-related issues
      • Develop an understanding of the results of your businesses and key drivers for accounting variances, aiming to provide value-added advice as the business transforms and adapts to accommodate changes in client needs and the economic environment
    • Control and governance over the financial position and performance of each business area and flawless execution of close processes -- including preparation and support of financial and regulatory submissions (e.g., journal entries, templates) -- is fundamental to your role. You will:
      • Maintain a high standard of partner service quality by taking ownership and accountability of incoming requests, and responding with a sense of urgency to ad-hoc inquiries and requests for financial information and analysis by senior management or other business partners
      • Support the accurate and timely execution of the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, including preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, and disclosure template submissions for financial and regulatory reporting
      • Support and work with external auditors in their annual audit and audit-related requests
    • Continuous process improvement and system change are critical to your role. You will help to enable GM FC to spend more time on value-added analytics and less time on manual process:
      • Drive change and add value through continually evolving current processes and analysis, in light of changing business needs and reporting requirements
      • Lead transformation projects and actively identify opportunities for streamlining and automation; actively lead and execute on identified opportunities
      • Continuously redesign existing commentary and analysis to maximize efficiency and value to key stakeholders (Financial Control, and Front Office)

    Must-have

    • CPA or equivalent designation, evidenced by a strong knowledge and understanding of financial reporting under IFRS accounting standards and internal controls over financial reporting
    • Excellent analytical thinking and acute attention to detail
    • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills – ability to work with people at all levels within the organization
    • Highly motivated, collaborative, and self-starter attitude
    • Ability to manage numerous priorities simultaneously amidst tight deadlines
    • Proficiency with computer applications, such as Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.

    Nice-to-have

    • Exposure to Capital Markets businesses, together with a willingness and interest in deepening that knowledge.
    • Experience with RBC financial systems and associated procedures including EPM system knowledge also preferred.
    • 3 - 5 years of high level involvement in Financial/management reporting
