A great opportunity for technical students learning the brewing and beverage industry.
We are currently seeking a Brewer to join our team for the summer. Reporting to the Head Brewer and is responsible for monitoring and carrying out brew house and cellar operations.

The Brewer is a key position on the brewing team who must be a self-starter with great energy and true passion for craft beer and spirits.

Our Brewing team works together under mínimal supervision to execute daily brewing operations, lead with innovation and creativity on project brews, facilitate best-in-class quality standards, and actively participate in sales and marketing efforts through beer education and public relations.


Responsibilities:


Brewing Operations:


  • With supervision for our Leads, performs all applicable tasks associated with making great and consistent beverages, from milling to the packaging tank.
  • Conduct a preinspection and progression through learning and operating all equipment associated with the brewing. Equipment includes but not limited to the malt mill, mash kettle, lauter tun, boiler, whirlpool, centrifuge, fermenters, chiller.
  • Provide input on equipment optimization throughout growth initiatives.
  • Prepare, organize, and track all materials used during the brewing process. Monitors the processes and makes adjustments as required to meet Muskoka Brewery's highquality standards.
  • Collects samples of beer throughout the brewing process, centrifuge and milling operations.
  • Performs thorough sanitation duties including the cleaning and maintenance of equipment and utensils to ensure quality standards are met.

Quality and Freshness

  • Working closely with the Quality Control and Brewing Team, the Brewer will monitor the quality of production, end products and operational performance and quality and area sanitation.
  • Take measurements and conduct standardized tests on beer/wort to ensure compliance with Muskoka Brewery quality standards; factors such as gravity and pH.
  • Conduct sensory evaluation such as Diacetyl, 3MBT, DMS to proactively detect potential brewing quality concerns.
  • Help to facilitate high standards, resolutions and customer services at every opportunity.

Qualifications:


  • Pursuing a diploma in Brewery Operations Management or food and beverage sciences
  • Must be able to work in a team oriented and "Safety First" environment.
  • Able to lift 50lbs.
  • Basic understanding of equipment and the science of brewing.
  • Available and able to work 12 hour shifts, overnights, weekends and holiday schedules as required
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • A strong passion for our great beer and the craft beer industry.
