Summary:


Under the direction of the Project Manager, the Project Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and supporting the operational and all project related functions of the Fort McKay Group of Companies.

This position provides support to contracted projects that are in different phases and of varying complexity and size. This is a safety-sensitive position that requires completion of pre-employment/pre-access testing.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Ensure contract management, maintenance and preparation of contracts, billing generation and collection, change management, and claims.
  • Develop, implement and maintain project works.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships.
  • Conduct regular on and off site project reviews with safety, QA and operational (KPI) performance.
  • Provide technical support and assistance to field supervision as required, ensuring clients plans and desires are communicated effectively to field supervision.
  • Assist Operations and Maintenance leadership in removing constraints that affect their ability to meet or exceed the daily expectations.
  • Communicate with the client regularly during project execution, calculate productivity factors and present to the client on a weekly basis
  • Responsible for accurate and timely reporting of progress, production, and costs.
  • Maintenance of monthly/annual resource and revenue forecasting and budgets and cost reporting
  • Coordinate with HSE department and ensure that safety statistics are presented to the client as per the contract.
  • Work as a team on JSA as required.
  • Understand drawings and locate design problems prior to the beginning of a project, and during the course of the project up to completion.
  • Submit RFIs (or equivalent) to client upon finding or being notified of a design problem
  • Complete field designs within 24 hours
  • Assist in Incident / Environmental investigations with the Superintendent, and other Team members as required.
  • Calculate the margin on unit rate projects. Review with the project manager and superintendent
  • Work with Superintendent to develop action plans to correct low production or low margin
  • Conduct regular on and offsite project reviews with safety, QA and Operational (KPI) performance.
  • Supervise QC subcontractors as needed.
  • Complete turnover documents after the completion date of the project
  • Monday to Friday; 10 hours per day

Skills and Qualifications Required:


  • Completion of a High School Diploma, or a GED equivalent is required.
  • Completion of postsecondary education in Mining or Civil Engineering is preferred.
  • Retention of a valid class five (5) driver's license is required
  • 3 year Drivers Abstract is required
  • Any construction industry experience located on a project site is preferred, with relevant experience in a production environment relating to Mining, Civil Construction, and Heavy Equipment Operation.
  • Excellent knowledge in MS Office, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook is required. Experience in AutoCAD is considered an asset.
  • CSTS and OSSA or BSO or CSO is required
  • Effective communicator and displays strong and professional interpersonal skills, including excellent oral, written communication, and listening skills. Speaks clearly and persuasively in all situations, writes clearly and informatively. Strong coordination skills, ability to identify constraints.
  • Problem solving skills: problems are solved within general policies and rules under general/limited guidance. This requires the incumbent to have specialized knowledge.
  • Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
  • Able to manage a large group of leaders and personnel with differing shifts, personalities, and performance.
  • Ability to speak, write and read English is required
This is a full time position located north of Fort McMurray, AB, on the MLX Site.
Camp not available, locals preferred.
