Overall responsibility is maintaining the facility, equipment, and ice surface(s), while supervising arena helpers and ensuring a smooth and efficient operation.

• Assist in the daily operation and maintenance of the facility, which includes (but is not limited to), maintaining current knowledge of scheduled activities and events, fostering good working relationships with staff and the public, promoting a safe and pleasant working environment, and responding to any customer inquiries/complaints when required.
• Assist in proper ice maintenance, which includes: flooding and scraping ice; edger operations; maintaining, recording and monitoring appropriate ice thickness; performing repairs as they arise (including repairing boards and glass); and conducting ice machine maintenance (i.e. blade replacement)
• Complete accident/incident reports as they arise, while gathering all necessary information and contacting appropriate emergency services, as required.
• Assist in the supervision and training of part-time staff in the operation and maintenance of the facility and related equipment.
• Assist, as required, in maintaining the arena compressor room.
• Conduct facility operating duties, which includes: activate/de-activate security alarm; check fire alarm panel, removing snow from all entrances and exits; activate appropriate lighting for scheduled activities; performing end of shift security alarm checks.
• Assist during special events, including equipment and material setups and teardowns.
• Practice and promote positive attitudes and actions as a team player; recommend ideas and initiatives to enhance the workplace.
• Maintain and ensure a clean and safe facility, which includes daily cleaning of washrooms, change rooms, windows; sweeping and mopping floors; emptying and collecting garbage and any other duties that may be required throughout shift.
• Perform other related duties, as assigned, that are in accordance with job responsibilities and/or necessary departmental objectives.
• Ensure all main scheduled event rinks are flooded prior to any shinny floods.
