We are growing and we have a fantastic opportunity to join our Merchandise team as an

Associate Merchandise Manager. Reporting to the Merchandise Manager, you will be responsible for managing a subset of a Merchandise Manager's product assortment, sales, inventory, margins, and supplier relationships within an assigned category, to deliver on established annual financial plans.

What you'll do:


  • Work closely with the Merchandise Manager on the development, communication, and execution of category strategies in collaboration with cross functional teams.
  • Deliver financial metrics assigned to the category including POS, shipments, margin, and other business metrics including but not limited to inventory metrics in conjunction with Supply Chain.
  • Develop and maintain a productive and profitable national brand and private label assortment in the Dealer Support Centre and through direct to store channels.
  • Build competitive advantage for HHSL using category knowledge acquired through industry experience, trade shows, store visits, and supplier interactions both domestically and internationally.
  • Negotiate and build strong relationships with key suppliers to support corporate initiatives.
  • Provide strong leadership, support, and direction to Merchandise Associate and the collaborative crossfunctional team.
  • Develop and execute successful promotions and support marketing initiatives.
  • Support Home Dealer Owners with timely, accurate and valuable category information.

What we're looking for:


  • Degree in Business.
  • Retail industry experience and knowledge of Category Management practices is preferred.
  • Strong business acumen and analytical skills with an entrepreneurial attitude.
  • Embraces technology with strong computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and attention to detail skills, with the ability to balance, prioritize and manage several projects, while meeting deadlines.
  • Flexible and adaptable; able to operate independently and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Leadership potential with the ability to manage, motivate and direct a team.
  • Knowledge of Home Hardware's departments, systems and processes a definite asset.
  • Ability to work additional or varied hours as required to fulfill the responsibilities of position.
