As the Associate Vice President (AVP), Vertical Market Development you will act as a catalyst in the prosperous growth in Net Written Premiums for our Creditor and Specialty Market insurance products.

Balancing an entrepreneurial, customer-centric engagement approach you play to win in the end-to-end sales process, developing and executing strategic sales/business plans, establishing a network of relationship pipelines, leading complex negotiations with clients, and fostering long-term relationships.

The AVP, Vertical Market Development applies integrity and resilience while striving to reach profitable growth considering the diverse needs of clients and stakeholders, and the protection of the organization.


How you will create impact:


  • Contributing to a culture of success through building effective strategies, methodologies, networks, and executing on innovative sales plans that convert leads into sales achieving profitable annual growth and premium plan objectives for Creditor and Specialty Market verticals (ie. Tier Two Financial Institutions, Mortgage Brokerages, Specialty Lenders, and FinTech Segment).
  • Pursuing the expansion of networks/relationships within marketing verticals and close business with stakeholders focusing on both consumer and commercial lending through direct, indirect, and digital channels.
  • Leading contract negotiations and renewals collaboratively with strategic partners.
  • Leveraging the unique value propositions associated with Cooperators and the collective products, service capacities and capabilities within Specialty Operations, Creditor, and the broader Cooperators Group to develop and grow strategic partnerships and collaboration opportunities.
  • Safeguarding a high level of client satisfaction, guiding and managing client expectations, and contributing to client engagement throughout the lifecycle of the contract to support retention goals.
  • Creating, monitoring, and reporting on annual business plans to support strategic priorities and strategic growth targets.
  • Working closely with internal functions (product, underwriting, claims, finance, etc.) to ensure they are well positioned to successfully onboard and support each new partner.
  • Leverage and improve upon existing strategy and business model by sourcing new strategic partnerships and evolving existing partnerships.

To join our team:


  • You have 10 years of progressive B2B business development experience, including endtoend new account solicitation and relationship management experience for Specialty Markets (ie. Tier Two Financial Institutions, Mortgage Brokerages, Specialty Lenders, and FinTech Segment).
  • You have a degree in Business Administration or a related discipline.
  • You have completed or are pursuing Life License Qualification Program (LLQP) and Other Than Life (OTL) insurance certification.
  • You have demonstrated success in B2B new business development, collaborating for complex RFP development, prospecting to an executive/Csuite level, negotiations, contract renewals, and developing related strategies.
  • You have a deep knowledge of life and disability insurance. Having knowledge of creditor is an asset.
