Materials Inspection and Testing - Seasonal Laboratory Technician

Location:
North Bay, ON

Education (Minimum): College Diploma

Experience: 2 Years preferred, not required.

Contract Length:
short-term contract (ending end of November 2024) with possibility of extension or full-time employment (based on expected workload and performance)

Responsibilities:

The North Bay Lab of Paterson Group is seeking a proactive and self-motivated team player to provide support to the Materials Testing and Inspection Department as a Laboratory Technician for a short-term contract.

The position may become full-time based on expected workload and performance.

Your duties will include, but not be limited to:

Main responsibility would be testing day to day samples, from the private sector and/or government contracts;
Laboratory Testing of aggregate, soils, asphalt and/or concrete;
Field quality control of construction materials;
Materials sampling;
Data entry and calculations;
Technologists are expected to flag failed test results to their supervisor;
Learn to personally organize their own daily tasks based on the work flow and due dates give to them;
Maintain laboratory and personal work area in a clean and professional manner, and;
Test equipment and conduct scheduled maintenance on tested equipment.

Job Requirements:

Preferably CCIL certified (HMA and Type C);
CET Certification is considered an asset;
Know and be comfortable with standards codes such as ASTM, LS, CSA, etc;
Must be able to read, understand and follow work instructions in a safe, accurate and timely manner;
Proven ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects in a fastpaced, highly professional environment;
Ability to work well with others and independently;
Proven time management skills and a strong attention to detail;
Excellent communication skills, and;
Valid driver's license with access to a personal vehicle.

Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and move items and equipment up to 50 lbs.
