Position Overview

Larga Baffin strives to provide Nunavummiut with quality care during their medical appointments in Ottawa. We are dedicated to creating a safe and respectful environment with friendly and caring staff. We offer a warm bed, healthy meals, and local ground transportation to medical appointments. Our facility is strategically located in Ottawa so that our clients can access the hospitals and airports promptly.


Reporting to the Kitchen Managers / Supervisors, the Dishwasher/Server will be responsible for performing several cleaning services in the kitchen area, dining room, and guest room, as well as serving meals to clients and servicing and stocking supplies for the kitchen.

The Dishwasher/Server is an important member of our team, ensuring the highest level of cleanliness, safety, and service quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform all kitchen cleaning duties: sanitizing, wiping, sweeping, cleaning, washing, dusting mopping, distributing, and stocking supplies including dishwasher, sinks, microwaves, shelving, fridges and freezers, walls, ceiling, baseboards, racks, etc
  • Perform all dining room and Visitors Lounge cleaning duties: sanitizing, wiping, sweeping, cleaning, washing, dusting mopping, distributing, and stocking supplies including all food service machines, counters, drawers, cupboards, sinks, plate and cup dispensers country food appliances and tables, etc.
  • The stock of all condiments, cups, plates, cutlery, trays, napkins, supplies, food service, etc
  • Serve guests food during meal times as needed
  • Bus tables to ensure the dining room and kitchen areas are well maintained
  • Collect and dispose of trash/recycling as needed and clean containers and the surrounding area
  • Safely operate dishwasher machine: check soap levels
  • Sort, unpack, stock, and assist in receiving supplies and notify Managers/Supervisor of items needed for reorder
  • Report equipment malfunctions and repairs needed to the supervisor
  • Provide clients and staff with clean and sanitized utensils, dishes, and equipment
  • Prep lunch bags
  • Communicate with various departments to ensure client's needs are met
  • Performs shift change and/or closing duties
  • Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with safety regulations
  • Clean and sanitize items such as dishwasher mats, carts, and waste disposal units
  • Clean and sanitize items such as tables, chairs, (complete top to bottom), walls, baseboards,
  • Willingness to enhance our client's quality of care
  • At times, may serve the meal promptly
  • Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy environment for our clients and staff
  • Assist with additional tasks as and when needed or assigned by management both within and outside role and department to support Larga operations
Minimum Qualifications

  • Previous experience preferred in a kitchen, hospital, or industrial type setting which includes public interaction
  • Minimum one (1) year of customer service experience
  • Work within a flexible schedule

Preferred Qualifications

  • Inuktitut is a strong asset
  • First Aid / CPR/ AED trained (or a willingness to learn)
  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System(WHMIS) training (or a desire to learn)

Schedule:

  • Shifts are Friday to Monday 11 am to 7:30 pm or 6:30 am to 3 pm

_ Priority will be given to qualified Nunavut Beneficiaries. Larga Baffin does not provide housing and is not responsible for relocation costs._
