    NAITis seeking contract instructors to teach various math and statistics courses indifferent programs in the School of Applied Sciences and Technology. Additional content development opportunitiesmay be required.

    TechnicalMathematics, Calculus and Basic Statistics

    Monday7pm-9pm at Main Campus, Wednesday 7-9pm online, Friday 7-9pm online

    BusinessMathematics

    Tuesdayand Thursday 8am-10am at Main Campus

    BusinessStatistics

    Mondayand Wednesday 10am-12pm online

    Tuesdayand Thursday 2pm-4pm at Main Campus

    Key Responsibilities:

  • Instructassigned courses using problem-based learning, technology supported learning aswell as other instructional and assessment strategies.
  • Adaptpre-existing course resources to different student needs, and teach using avariety of lesson types (direct instruction, group work, flipped classroom) tosupport student success
  • Prepare,create, and deliver lessons and activities that directly support the courseLearning Outcomes in a classroom environment
  • Createand administer in-person or online assessments according to Learning Outcomes
  • Providequalitative and quantitative feedback to students.
  • Utilizeappropriate educational technology for communications and course delivery
  • Applyclassroom management strategies to maintain an effective learning environmentfor students
  • Maintainstudent attendance, grades and other documentation as required
  • Maintainprofessional ethical relationships with students and colleagues
  • Respondprofessionally to student questions, issues and concerns
  • Seekfeedback from students on instructional effectiveness
  • Complete Safety Orientation Online Course; CyberSecurity Training; Respect at NAIT; and Emergency Warden Training.
  • Skills& Abilities:

  • Subject-matter expertise in technical mathematics, businessmathematics, statistics or calculus (depending on specific course taught)
  • Proficient computer skills for course delivery are required,including but not limited to Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel),online Learning Management Systems (Moodle, Brightspace), virtual meetingsoftware (Teams, WebEx) and gradebook
  • Familiarwith analysis/visualization software such as Excel, Desmos, GeoGebra, R, orMaple to support mathematical learning
  • Well-developed communication, interpersonal, andorganizational skills
  • Classroommanagement and instructional skills for in-person and/or online environments
  • Demonstratedability to work independently.
  • Qualifications:

  • RelatedB.Sc. degree (Mathematics, Engineering or Statistics) or B.Ed. (SecondaryMathematics) preferred
  • Teachingexperience at post-secondary or high school level an asset
  • Remuneration : $99per hour. (Classification - Instructor A)

    Thisposition is covered by the NAIT Academic Staff Association (NASA) CollectiveAgreement
