- Make effective, timely decisions based on a mixture of analysis, wisdom, experience and judgement as it relates to building maintenance which can occur under tight deadlines and under pressure;
- Ensure continuous operation and maintenance of all Municipal buildings and properties.
- Direct and perform others to do regular inspections in order to prioritize and plan maintenance repairs.
- Direct contractors and City employees to ensure all efforts are maintained to work safely in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Direct and perform work so that patrons are continuously safe, which includes but not limited to custodial work.
- Be the designated first aid provided in the event of an accident.
- Comply with all Corporate policies and procedures.
- Observe working methods and conditions and suggest alternate methods of operation to the responsible supervisor.
- Respond to general inquiries and forward to responsible supervisor if required.
- Prepare small job costings and reports in an accurate manner.
- Operate in a safe manner and be responsible for the proper use of all equipment in day to day operations.
- Perform Pre-Trip inspections on assigned equipment as required.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.

Ensure the continuous operation and maintenance of all municipal buildings and properties under the direction of the Recreation Department (Facilities Section) in a safe and cost effective manner. Several buildings operate on a 24/7 schedule and the Sub-Foreperson must be capable of working unscheduled hours on occasion. Will be required to work shifts.
Qualifications:
Must possess a diploma as a Mechanical or Civil Engineering Technologist/Technician, Building Technician, or hold a Certificate of Qualification as a Millwright as regulated by the Ontario College of Trades and Apprenticeship Act, 2009; Must have experience pertaining to the repair and maintenance of buildings (carpentry, plumbing, etc.) and equipment (HVAC, lighting, vacuums, etc.);
Must possess and demonstrate superior computer skills including, but not limited to G.I.S., electronic mail, Internet, data entry and word processing (e.g. Microsoft Office);
Must possess, or be able to obtain and maintain, a valid unrestricted Class "D" Driver's Licence with "Z" endorsement;
Must be able to possess and maintain valid First Aid and WHMIS Certificates;
