The Front Desk Agent is responsible for ensuring guests have a pleasurable stay by meeting their needs in a professional and courteous manner, and by providing excellent customer service in accordance with HI Canada's policies, procedures, and mission statement.
Responsibilities & Qualifications:
- Creating a positive relationship with guests by working as a team, being friendly, courteous and by making them feel comfortable from the moment they arrive to the moment they leave
- Evaluating the needs of each customer and adapting the service to meet those needs
- Providing guests with clear, accurate information on the surrounding area including tourist attractions, special events, transportation, and directions
- Communicating on a regular basis with hostel staff by using the communications book, attending staff meetings, and liaising with Management about any issues they need to be aware of
- Communicating with other members of the HI Canada when necessary, including Regional Office, HI Canada Hostels and Affiliates Hostels
- Assisting housekeeping with maintaining the overall cleanliness of the hostel by performing duties such as morning bed checks and folding laundry
- Assisting in the training of staff and volunteers on HI Canada policies and procedures when necessary
- Reconciling daily cash reports and making bank deposits when required.

- Performs other related duties as required
