Pavement/ Geotechnical Engineer in Training to join our Team.

Pavement/ Geotechnical Engineer in Training in one of our Barrie office.


Educational & Experience Requirements:


  • Completion of a recognized bachelor's degree in civil engineering. A bachelor's degree in geotechnical engineering, or work experience in geotechnical engineering, would be an asset.
  • Eligible for registration with Professional Engineers Ontario (P.Eng., P.Geo).
  • Understanding and demonstrated field experience in soil/bedrock classification, drilling methods, insitu testing (settlement, compaction, packer testing, vibration monitoring, etc.), soil/rock logging, sampling protocols, monitoring well and instrument installation, etc.
  • Familiarity with software packages specific to geotechnical analysis (borehole logging and pavement design software such as AASHTOWare ME, etc.) would be an asset.
  • Ability and interest to undertake extensive fieldwork, in a range of weather conditions, including working in remote locations.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic consulting environment that requires flexibility and the willingness to work overtime, as required.
  • Welldeveloped interpersonal, verbal and written communication and organizational skills.

Main Duties:


  • Provide technical support to a wide variety of geotechnical projects, including the preparation and supervision of field programs, data collection, data analysis, technical report writing, and proposal preparation.
  • Design and conduct field investigations at remote sites including pavement investigations, soils/rock drilling and logging, test pit logging, soil and bedrock characterization, monitoring well and other instrument tasks/installation, etc., as well as associated field coordination and subcontractor coordination.
  • Assisting intermediate and senior staff in preparing proposals and cost estimates, and writing technical reports presenting field findings, data analysis results, recommendations, etc.
  • Assisting intermediate and senior staff in performing design and analytical functions on projects involving pavement design, slope/embankment stability, retaining walls, seepage, drainage and settlement analysis, shallow and deep foundations, embankments, ponds, dams, and landfills.

Position:


  • Full time salaried position.
  • Providing proof of full vaccination against COVID19 may be a condition of employment. Exceptions to this requirement will be considered on a casebycase basis in relation to local health guidelines and/or client requirements/regulations.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Availability to travel to remote sites for up to
    3 weeks at a time.
