The Student Swim & Day Camp Coordinator is responsible for overseeing all waterfront and day camp programs for the Township of South Frontenac.

This includes supervising all staff, ensuring program effectiveness, and monitoring the swim instruction programs at all sites.


Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Maintains the swim and camp registration database.
  • Provides direction to and supervises site coordinators, lifeguards, instructors, assistant instructors, camp counsellors and volunteers of site.
  • Monitors attendance, punctuality and work habits of staff and provides feedback as required.
  • Orders all equipment related to swim program (i.e., buoys if needed, first aid kits, badges, report cards, uniforms etc.).
  • Provides programming for day camp program and swim instruction.
  • Deals with any problems to the best of their ability and directs more challenging problems to the Manager of Recreation and Facilities.
  • Provides facility maintenance and beach cleanup.
  • Complies with The Township of South Frontenac policies, procedures, and health and safety requirements.
  • Completes Incident Reports as required.
  • Completes additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Completes a comprehensive end of season report with future recommendations.

Qualifications:


  • Must have been attending school in 202
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • NLS Certification is an asset.
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certification.
  • Water Safety Instructor, Lifesaving Instructor and Bronze Examiner Certification considered a strong asset.
  • Must have valid G Class Driver's License and vehicle to travel to all sites within South Frontenac.
  • Must be familiar with the Lifesaving Society Swim for Life Program.
  • Leadership, supervision, and public relations skills.
  • Communication skills.
  • Decisionmaking skills.
  • Strong computer skills and comfort with computer software such as databases.
  • Current Criminal Record Check is required.
  • Vulnerable Sector check for individuals 18 years or older.

Work Environment:


  • The work environment for this role is a mixture of office and outdoor settings. In the event of severe rain/thunderstorms, duties will be performed indoors. The incumbent must be adaptable in adjusting to extreme heat and weather conditions.
  • Incumbent must be comfortable interacting with members of the public daily.

Other:


  • This is a seasonal nonunion position based on a 40hour work week.
Compensation is in accordance with the Salary Schedule adopted by Council and amended from time to time.
