AutoCanada is looking for a Compensation Specialist who will play a pivotal role in supporting the development, implementation, and administration of our compensation framework and benchmarking and providing specialized expertise in all areas of compensation.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Implement, maintain, and ensure adherence to compensation governance principles and standards on a national scope
  • Design, implement and administer total compensation programs
  • In partnership with key stakeholders across the company, drive solutions and recommendations to compensation opportunities such as incentive and base pay structures, job evaluations, and collective bargaining
  • Manage the yearend incentive payouts and annual increases, providing guidance to all levels of management including Senior Team and Executive Team members
  • Create total compensation programs, including base pay, incentive pay, pay equity, annual compensation review and market analysis
  • Provide expert consultation to business partners on compensation philosophy for offers of employment, promotional increases, and other offcycle adjustments
  • Deliver total rewards education, communication, and change management for new plan/policy rollouts
  • Partner with all management levels, and act as an expert for human resources partners
  • Lead annual market benchmarking and outreach efforts to ensure AutoCanada is equipped with relevant data on market rates and total rewards best practices to drive informed compensation decisions
  • Execute, maintain and govern job architecture
  • Analyze compensationrelated data to determine the effectiveness of compensation programs and drives enhancements to increase efficiencies, employee engagement, and alignment with AutoCanada's compensation philosophy
  • Develop and deliver timely compensation reports and other materials for presentation to the Senior Team and Executive Team
  • Perform the salary equity exercise for all Canada sites and job families
  • Ensure data integrity in the HRIS system and manage analytics
  • Support the team with audits, research, analysis, and recommendations for various situations related to our compensation programs and structure

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Minimum five years' experience in a similar role including, experience in salary structure development, compensation communication, pay equity, job evaluation, benchmarking, and salary administration
  • Previous experience working in the auto dealership industry is considered a significant asset (or related retail industry experience with familiarity developing variable pay plans)
  • Demonstrated understanding of Canadian provincial employee and labour standards
  • CPHR designation and/or Compensation Professional Certification (CCP) would be considered an asset
  • Demonstrated planning, organization, time management and problemsolving skills
  • Strong ability to communicate, educate and influence management and employees on compensation activities, guidelines, and bonus programs
  • Ability to create strong business relationships and enable collaboration with all levels of the organization
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Proven knowledge of labour market surveys, job evaluation and job analysis models
  • Ability to translate complex and technical concepts in an easytounderstand way
