Housekeeper - Paris, Canada - Grand River Estates Retirement Home

Description

• Previous housekeeping experience, preferably in hospitality or a retirement home.
• Ability to speak, read and write English. Must be able to follow oral and written directions and to do simple arithmetic calculations.

• Standing for extended periods of time - for up to 8hrs/day.
• Walking short distances and manoeuvring in tight spaces within resident suites.
• Pulling/pushing/bending/lifting cleaning carts, chemical pails, etc., up to 50lbs.
• Reaching to upper shelving - at times with use of an 18inch to 3ft step ladder.
• Repetitive arm and upper body motions in intervals for periods of up to 8hrs for sweeping, wiping.
• Working in warm temperatures for extended periods of time.
• Some memory work required to know Residents and preferences.

• Maintain a clean, safe environment in the residence.
• Work as a member of a team with all other residence personnel.
• Be knowledgeable of and practice residence's fire and safety programs.

• Clean, dust and vacuum residents' bedrooms and public areas of the residence, i.e., lounges, corridors and elevators.
• Clean and sanitize residents' bathroom and all washrooms in the residence, including all fixtures, tiles, floors, vanity and mirrors.
• Clean rooms vacated by residents and prepare rooms for incoming residents.
• Collect refuse from residents' rooms and other areas of the residence and dispose of this refuse in accordance with set procedures.
• Clean and organize outdoor and patio furniture.
• Water and care for plants in the residence.
• Clean and restock housekeeping cart.
• Report malfunctions in equipment and repairs needed to Environmental Department through the Maintenance Memo Book.
• Notify Housekeeping Manager when housecleaning suppliers are low.

• Partners with community team to ensure community is in compliance with Occupational Health and Safety requirements and promotion of Risk Management programs and/or policies; adherence to safety rules and regulations.
• Practices safety procedures at all times including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), fire safety procedures including extinguishers (as applicable), SDSs (Safety Data Sheets) and Lockout Tagout procedures.
• Reports all accidents/incidents immediately.
• Reports all unsafe and hazardous conditions/equipment immediately.
• Complies with all infection control techniques, placement of biohazard containers and removal techniques, procedures and policies.
• Participates in Fire Safety and Mock Disaster procedures.
